Guess they will find out if the tires/radiators work.

I predict at least 200,000 people hiding under the bleachers to escape the intense heat.

Maybe, juuust maybe this will help Lotus. The others will likely open up the radiators, especially since these engines haven't exactly been stress tested, and the extra drag will slow them down.

Now if Lotus can just keep from blowing up.

OK... give me a break. I'm just trying to find a grain of interest for the race. :tony:

Does anyone happen to know what the hottest race day ever was?

Prolly that race Vukovich won when the other driver died of heat exhaustion.

Not certain, but I think 97 might be IT, if it goes there. Let's ask Donald Davidson.:) Upon further review: Vuky's win in '53 was at 91 degrees and the hottest ever was '37 when it hit 92 so 93 will be A NEW TRACK RECORD!!

according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_500_records

Hottest Temperature at Start of Race:
96 °F (35 °C), 2010

Hottest Temperature During Race:
100+ °F (38+ °C), 1953

As I post this this page http://www.theindychannel.com/weather/index.html

Says: "This may well be the warmest Indianapolis 500 on record! Up to this point, the very first Indy 500 has been the warmest. The temperature for the 1911 race was 92 degrees."

There is also a thread over on Track Forum from right after last years race on the subject.

I think it'll be a long day of HOT streaming yellow. When it's hot out it gets greasy, then you get this stuff:

And I ain't talking Greasy Saladbar greasy, I'm talkin greasy. Worst ratings ever PLUS most laps under caution ever. An American will not win, however it will be a Penske. Under the the hot yellow stream.:p

Yeah, we've got some rogue forecasts showing 102 here Sun and Mon (95 Sat). Lord, I hope not. :( Not sure what model Wx Underground is using, but that's their forecast. Meanwhile AccuWx and NWS have it 90/91ish. Still flipping hot too early, and my grass is now showing that it's been hot and dry here for the past week+. I needed a goat a few weeks ago...now we need rain. :saywhat:

EDIT: WxUnderground now forecasting 104 here on Mon. x 11

Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm. High of 104F. Winds from the SW at 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

That's here for next week/weekend...highs back into the seasonal mid-70s. Hopefully this weekend will be a dry heat. :saywhat: Just got back from a visit to Dulles and the flipping humidity was everywhere. :yuck: I blame Elmo. :gomer:
