Tell me this isn't a match made in heaven. From today's Racer.com (I don't read indycar.com or whatever it is, thank you.)

IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway have announced a movie-themed collaboration with DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc., for the upcoming animated feature film Turbo, which is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2013.

First thought: They really know how to market. Second though: Release date AFTER the 500? Might work for Disney; not so much for the Leege.

Randy established an office in Santa Monica in order to suck up to Hollywood and cut deals just like this. Which is just further proof that these ****s have no intention of improving the product, but instead intend to market garbage P.T. Barnum-style.

The story follows an ordinary garden snail who dreams of becoming the fastest snail in the world. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make his dream come true.

After a tragic experience with the fence...

I wonder if he'll be driving the S-car. :gomer:

If it's a Dallaruh, cameraman's right. Prepare the garlic butter.

As a Disney shareholder, I want to point out that it is a DreamWorks film. Disney has Cars. :)

Aside from that, I'd be praising CART for getting some marketing. I don't care about the IRL, but good for them to get it. Tony George would've found a way to pay DreamWorks. :D

I wanted an excuse to mute the sound of the NASCAR race (my brackets are busted so I'm kinda off college basketball) so I actually listened to this Ropin' Randy interview. Please forgive me, I'm distressed. Got stuck in the elevator in my apartment building this morning and the FDNY had to come pry it open to get me out. True story, BTW. Anyway....

I'm sure I'll regret spending almost 10 minutes of my life on this when I'm about to say, "ibbidy, ibbidy, that's all folks," but "what's done is done and cannot be undone." Looney Tunes to Shakespear in one sentence, what else do I say?

1) Little Snail bringing one to tears  - they already created a whole new series for the Little Snails. Ain't that enough for them? I cried a river over this a long time ago. Geez!
2) 750 hp and not one, not two, but three (sorry, LeBron) engine manufacturers will be vying for that 750 hp prize. Whoopie! The movie they should be making is "Back to the Future." Ooops, already been there, done that. Do they think the public is full of brain-damaged ex-NFL players or something? I never had a concussion; at least not that I remember, and I do remember what happened 17 years ago. We was saved. :saywhat:
3) Speaking of 17 years ago, what happened to the poor, put-upon American oval track racers? :yuck: Well, I know they're all remaking NASCAR, but every driver he mentioned--Franchitti, Barrichello:shakehead, Kannan, Power--are all (I'm whispering) FOREIGNERS! I especially have to shake my head at old Rubens (aka Michael's expletive deleted ;)). Hey dude, this ain't Nigel Mansell in 1993. What do ya'll think ya'll gettin?

I've said this before, but everytime I think they have gotten as bad as they're gonna get, they manage to exceed themselves. That is truly impressive.

They're poised for growth the same way Francisco Franco is poised for retaking power in a coup attempt.

However, Di$ney does have a distribution agreement with Dreamworks, which is similar to the agreement Pixar had with Di$ney....before the mouse ate Pixar. Irony here is that Katzenberg and Di$ney had an acrimonious parting after Frank Wells was killed in a helicopter crash in 1994. Katzenberg and Eisner could not get along together in the post-Wells era, leading to Katzenberg, Speilberg and Geffen to create SKG. Now they are bed fellows once again. Here endeth the lesson on Di$ney and Dreamworks.... :) BTW, if you haven'y seen it, Waking Sleeping Beauty is a very good documentary on the fall, rise and fall of Di$ney in the 80s and early- to mid-90s.
