This week is the big USAC Buckeye Nationals with round three at Limaland Motorsports Park last night. Limalnd is the track I usually spend my Friday evenings at for the paper and this is probably the biggest race of the year there. SPEED Channel will be showing the Limaland race this Thursday at 9 p.m. If you guys would make a note to watch, It'd mean a lot to me. I've grown kind of attached to the track over the last few years and I'm very proud of it (even though I haven't played any part in its success) and I'd like you to see my turf.

Here are the stories I have filed so far. I will be writing a followup for Sunday's paper. Check back for that.

Oh, and BTW, if someone could post a link to this on TrackForum for me. I think some of those guys might like to read it. My posting priveleges were revoked a while back and they all think I'm incapable of writing anything remotely objective about dirt-trackers or oval racing. :gomer:

I've got to go take a shower now. I'm covered with dirt from head to toe. Peace out!

Nice stuff Rabbit.

I gotcha linked up over on the short track forum at TF.

I was last at Limaland (was that it's name way back when?) in the early seventies. Crewing for a Kokomo hotdog by the name of Ron "The Barrel" Fisher we ended up in a hell of a brawl when Ron's car shed a drag link and rammed some local.

Ah yes, misspent youth.

bird,

It's been known as Limaland Speedway, Allentown Speedway (it actually sits in Allentown, a wide spot in the road just outside Lima) Limaland Sppedway again, and - for the last five or six years - Limaland Motorsports Park.

It's funny that you mention going there and getting in a fight years ago. I grew up just three miles from the track and would listen to the cars on Friday nights. But my dad would never take me because of guys like you. :p

The place has been cleaned up a ton in the last decade. You probably wouldn't even recognize it. The pit area is on the North side of the track and the S/F line is on the South side. A lot of the USAC guys told me it is like the Taj Majal of dirt tracks.

Come check it out sometime. If you do, let me know ahead of time and I'll buy you a Kewpee. Here's the schedule:

The place looked great on SPEED rabbit.

A little rutty and dusty with a lot of action.

Nice.

Doesn't get much better than a sprint/midget double header on a summer night.

You mean to tell me theres a racetrack in Lima? I had two friends go to school out there over the course of the past 3 years and they never mentioned that. If I knew, I might've actually made the effort to visit them out there.
