I'm running a small pool at work. Everybody picked the Saints and the Steelers to win. Most picked the Giants and the Texans edged out the Bengals.

I'm thinking that if there's an upset like Denver nuking Pittsburgh or the Lions spanking the Saints there are going to be bodies flying out of the upper floors of the hotels in Las Vegas...

Ah well. Everyone had the Bengals picked to be number one in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes this year so while I'm disappointed in the game it would be silly to be disappointed in the season.

Hopefully this will cool any interest in Gruden or Zimmer for head coaching positions.

Heard it set the NFL record for the shortest OT.

The previous one, I believe, was when the Bears ran back the opening kick in OT for a TD against Detroit on a Thanksgiving in the late 1970s or very early 1980s. I remember the guy's name was Davey Williams.

Denver's play was probably 5 seconds shorter because they started at their own 20 as the opening kick went into the end zone.

Continuing the theme, the last 15 minutes of the broadcast (8p-815p) had a 31.6 rating nationwide. But I guess most missed seeing him miss wide open receivers by 15 yards throughout the game -- including short hopping it to a receiver for what would have been a first down and likely field goal attempt that would have won the game at the end of regulation.

If you are a Bronco hater this was the best game ever. Elway will never be able to get rid of him now.

For me, no one to root for. All of these teams have won at least one SB, some far too many.

New England: East Coast snobbery team. How can you root for a team from a city where the most famous dish is baked beans?

New York: Double the snobbery of New England. Crime, garbage, and street gangs are the city's most important products.

Baltimore: Ugly uniforms. More East Coast snobbery. Baltimore Grand Prix: Need we say more?

San Francisco: Ghey looking uniforms from the gheyest city in America. Come on, San Andreas Fault. Finish what you started in 1906.

Andrew Longman

OK Rex, I hope you find a way to enjoy your day.

And if by accident you find yourself in...

Boston -- try the clam chowder. Try to get past the fact that they can't stand they aren't as good as NY. Personally I find that annoying too.

NYC -- try anything you want. The best (and worst) of anything from museums to stores to food can be found there 24/7. I know a Cajun/Thai restaurant that delivers at 3am.

Baltimore -- Crabs. Snobs? Not so much. Grit and Dockworkers, yes. Chris Paff anyone?

SF -- Well, at least for today I can't find anything nice to say except my old UP buddy Steve Mariucci used to coach there.
