Pass the cigarettes please..... ;)

Peter's and my son James made a Lego Pinewood Derby car one year. It was pretty simple compared to what you posted, but every dad in the pack was demanding to know if it was legal. :D

This is pretty much the definition of cool, at least to me.

I'm sure we have enough Legos in the house that those could be built. I wonder if they could be set up with Mindstorms to make them run.

(Possible post Lego League season project)

I'd like to know where they got those dark green bricks, the front of the Lotus is made with a pair of 2x4 roof tile w/ angles that are only available in black & red.

Looks to be the case. My problem is that I can't bring myself to bash my kits...

You can get customized tennis shoes, and in the building industry we can get custom colors on small run stuff for all kinds of things, but Lego won't allow you to do custom piece orders of stuff they have made previously.

When I was 8 or so, I won third place in the national Lego competition for a logging truck I made. The photo I sent in showed it carrying Lincoln Logs, which my parents thought was a questionable approach, because it showed a competing toy maker's building toy. In hindsight, that may have been what attracted the judges attention. It showed their product with a classic American building toy, but their product was the focus.

I'm guessing that's a spray paint job. One, because my kids have a LOT of bricks and I've never seen anything in British Racing Green. Two, because I've been to the hardware store and seen spray paint in British Racing Green.

And, to whoever suggested a Lego League for the postseason, I'm in. Maybe someone could put up a picture of a vintage racer and we could have a week or two to build the best Lego replica?

I was wondering if they had spray painted the bricks, as well. Some of the Star Wars kits had some greens - namely Boba Fett's ship and at least one of the small walkers (it's, um, for my kids...;)), but I don't remember if the tint was right, and I also doubt that there was that much variety of pieces.
