I grew up near Youngstown, Ohio which had a great local amusement park with some fantastic rides, including a fabulous old fashion carousel that I just learned has reopened in the last couple of months, but near the Brooklyn Bridge. The park it was in had a major fire in 1984 which closed the park when I was 23. It was like a death in the family and one of the last old fashion urban amusement parks in the country. Half the people in town likely got their first kisses in whatever they called the tunnel of love ride at the park.

I would love to hear if anyone here has visited the carousel.

Rogue is in Long Island. I have a SIL and BIL that live in Brooklyn, but our relationship is estranged now. However, I reluctantly spoke to them for longer on Thxgiving last week than I have my wife the past three mos. :saywhat: Post-Sandy, I exchanged e-mails with them, and their section of Brooklyn was OK, but based on the reports I've read, anything close to the water front(s) was decimated. The Staten Island area (Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island) was impacted in a major way.

Yeah I'm about 20 minutes from brooklyn (with no traffic), but I have not been to that Carousel. I'll have to check it out some day.
