Had any good sandwiches lately?

Grrl discovered Dietz and Watson Peppered Ham (http://www.dietzandwatson.com/our-products/deli/ham/pepper-ham-half/) which is so good I just throw it on bread. Not like I usually like much of anything else on my sandwiches anyway, but usually ham requires cheese. This is just delicious all by itself.

Sammiches are almost on the same plane of existence as Lone Star, ie they're perfection.

D&W meat is an east coast treat. They have some awesome dogs (1/4 lb. that are just sinful (and I'm a hot dog connoisseur).

BTW, if you have a Jason's Deli nearby, it's not bad....but it ain't Katzinger's goodness (almost makes me want the girls to go to Children's more often ;)).

A market up here serves Boar's Head turkey pn a sandwich with sage derby cheese & cranberry mayo on freshly baked white bread. Yum-O, as they say.

Their pastrami and corned beef are :yuck:. Based on the couple of experiences with those standbys, I've not cared to explore any further.

But I agree w/ the Dietz & Watson praise. I've yet to find anyone who carries their full line around here, but the couple products I can find regularly are VERY good.

We have a local salami maker that produces very good Italian meats.
They are getting wider and wider distribution so it could be in a deli near you.

My son is a fan of the Wild Boar salami and Sopressata. The Milano, Varzi and Sopressa are excellent. It is also great to have a good local source for Prosciutto and pancetta. If you want a really good ham sandwich try some prosciutto cotto.

For me the ultimate sandwich is made on my own wheat, oat and corn bread -- grilled with cheddar, red onion, cukes and sprouts and maybe some horseradish.

or my bread toasted with mayo, turkey, lettuce black pepper and cranberry sauce -- preferably eaten in front of a late November football game :D

DW Italian Roast Beef is really good too, but pricey relative to other deli meat: $12.99 here.

Absolutely!

It has a really nice coating of black pepper with just a touch of garlic. When it's deli sliced you get just enough to spice up the sandwich.

If you want a really good ham sandwich try some prosciutto cotto.

And if you want a really good bologna sandwich get real Italian mortadella.

Trying to eat low-carb, low-fat, so this is perfect.

According to their website, they have it at the Marsh grocery two miles from my home.
