On Wednesday morning, Panoz Motor Sports Group announced the sale of Mosport International Raceway to a group of Canadian investors, Canadian Motorsport Ventures, Ltd. However, rumors that this might be the first of several assets PMSG is looking to sell off were quickly dismissed by Scott Atherton, president and CEO of PMSG and the American Le Mans Series.

In what he called sale “one-of-one,” Atherton said the legendary Canadian permanent road course just outside Toronto is in better hands given the legitimacy and stature of the individuals that make up CMV. The trio that makes up the new ownership group are Al Boughton, a transportation industry leader, Carlo Fidani, a real estate developer, and Ron Fellows, one of Canada’s and the ALMS’ most successful road racers.

I don't know the first 2 chaps but nice to see Fellows associated with the sale. He has a lot of history at this track.

Panoz is starting to sell off his properties. Unfortunately I think Road Atlanta will follow as soon as the real estate market rebounds and someone could make money with 1000 condos on that property. As for this though I think its in good hands. Fellows won't do anything to hurt that place and they're planning some major much needed repairs and upgrades. Maybe next summer once they're in place I'll venture up there.

. . . as soon as the real estate market rebounds . . .

Good luck with that.

Somewhat eerie to read this today because yesterday afternoon I saw an ad for its sale in an Autoweek classified, of all things, that had been buried on my floor since January ( ) When I saw the ad, I remembered that I had seen here that it was for sale and wondered what had happened. Now I know.

Makeover has begun. New tunnel actually seems to be between corners 9 and 10, replacing the old tunnel. Hopefully this is just the start.

We have done extensive work on the grounds,” Fellows said on Tuesday. “We have started construction of a new tunnel between Turns 8 and 9 that will allow two race transporters at a time to enter and leave the track.”

The outside of the front stretch sure will look (http://events.ctmpark.com/) different, especially corner 10.

Weren't Road ATL and Sebring thrown in with the 'merger'?

Yes. Both tracks are now ISC joints.

Yes. Both tracks are now ISC joints.

Isn't it about time ISC added progressive banking to Road Atlanta and Sebring? Something needs to be done about improving the racing at those two tracks. :gomer::tony:

Well the rumors in the paddock at Sebring had NASCAR repaving that place so maybe your joking isn't so far off... :shakehead

Well, how long can you really go without new pavement in at least some areas? Bumpy is one thing, but if a point has been reached where it's patches atop patches atop patches atop patches, there's only so much you can do.

There's a big gray area in between "the bumps give it character" and "we don't want to spend money to fix the track so we'll just let it deteriorate and call it character."

Yes. Both tracks are now ISC joints.

Technically, the city owns Sebring.

ISC bought the lease which Panoz owned.

ISC bought the lease which Panoz owned.

Right, but it's some absurd length, isn't it? 75 years or something?

Edit: Answered my own question. Lease is firm through 2030, with a tenant option to renew until 2080. So if ISC wants it, it's theirs for a long, long, loooooooooooooong time.
