Didn't see this coming but good for PT.

SPEED.com can report that Jay Penske, whose famous father plucked Paul Tracy out of Indy Lights and launched his CART career exactly 20 years ago, is keeping his INDYCAR team alive and signed the popular 42-year-old Canadian to a five-race deal.

Zzzzzz. Seriously, this is the last card to be played before they exhume Mario Andretti for the 500.

Pathetic.

A five year deal? Good for him, but it's been years since he had a regular ride and the guy must be, what, 70 years old or something now?:shakehead

I'm with Chief on the gimmick factor.

I may actually have to GO! Nah, not really.

Still, it's so POPULAR that tickets are already being advertised at half price on some of the local discount email services. :tony:

LOL. Figured that. I was remarking about the local LA promotions for the "most popular events in town."

Actually, I WILL be going to The Mile this year, but that's more because I'm sort of a middle man trying to introduce people concerning a sponsorship deal for a USF2000 driver. Even STEPPING on the bottom rung of that "ladder" to Indy seems absurdly expensive. I told 'em I'm in for 50...bucks!

PT may be back for final 2 races:

The Thrill from West Hill will get another two chances to win in the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series. Paul Tracy is on the verge of signing a two-race deal — for Kentucky and Las Vegas — with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing to drive the No. 22 Dallara as a fill-in for the injured Justin Wilson. Tracy’s best finish in six starts this season was 12th in the second half of the Texas doubleheader.

It'd be nice to see PT start a team of his own, but it's a shame we don't have a series for him to run in.
