View Full Version : Kimi Raikkonen to Camping World Truck Series

This ought to be interesting...

According to the Turun Sanomat newspaper, Raikkonen - the 2007 world champion - will be racing with the new ICE1 Racing team in the Truck series before moving on to the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series.

Raikkonen will continue to compete in the World Rally Championship this year, where he has a deal for eight events.

Nascar is a great way to generate $$$$ and there is still hype surrounding Kimi. Therefore, this all adds up. Coupled with the fact that he still is struggling in Rally, it makes perfect sense for a few years. I don't see Kimi doing 38 Cup races for an established team.

Here's the deal for me - I won't go out of my way to watch it, but he's sponsored by Absolut, I'm buying the diecast.

i say it's an april fools joke. an article dated today puts him in a kyle busch truck for testing next week. i guess will know soon enough if this is a hoax...

Bob Varsha suspects hoax...

For a second, I thought kimi was taking April Fools a little too far. :gomer:

Kimi rocks at rockingham! tested the truck at rockingham yesterday and is running equal times as kyle busch.
"He did good again," Busch said. "Ran a lot better than we expected to run there, a lot faster than we expected to run there. I'm real happy with it."

I'll wake up soon. I know it.

I was watching F1 practice session 2 off the DVR this morning, and Leigh Diffey was talking about him, his FIL, Bob Varsha, and another guy getting kicked off the racetrack after filming Kimi with the truck.:rofl::rofl:

How secret can the session be, they aired the footage on Speed Channel. More free promos for the truck series.

I do want to see Jerry Punch's face when the interview turns into Kimi announcing, "I was having a ****."

as in the headlight beams and tracers?

Bingo. Not to mention the unusually bright underside of the truck.
And how did it get so high with nothing behind it to launch off of ?
The more I look at it the more it looks like a composite of several pictures.

No. It's for reals.

and Kimi's sponsor for this fridays truck race is "Perky Jerky" :gomer:
About Perky Jerky: Four years ago during a ski lift calamity, Perky Jerky’s founders spilled energy drink all over their stash of beef jerky. Stranded, hungry and 40-feet off the ground, they ate the soaked jerky and realized they were on to something. Three years in the kitchen and hundreds of homemade jerky recipes later, Perky Jerky was perfected and launched in 2009. In less than two years, Perky Jerky has quickly reached stratospheric levels of popularity amongst athletes, moms, students, troops and truckers alike.

Can Kimi even say "Perky" without his face cracking?

i think he'll be ok. i can say perky jerky easy enough while gritting my teeth.;)

Can Kimi even say "Perky" without his face cracking?

He won't say it at all. Too many syllables.

Okay I actually watched that:saywhat:

Why do they throw caution flags when a truck does a half spin and recovers without hitting a blessed thing or spilling any fluid on the track? That race was half run under yellow.

Kimi did fine.

I have not be converted into a truck fan but my checkbook is all nicely balanced.

my guess with Kyles 1/2 spin it was to keep kimi from having to pit under green. just read if things went well tonight kimi may try to race in the nationwide series next saturday at charlotte....

so question: was flipping with the info page on... is the busch race called the Top Gear 300?

High Sided
05-26-11, 09:02 PM
Top Gear 300 it is....
Details are scant as to what TopGear USA paid for all this, but we can't imagine it came cheap.

05-27-11, 04:00 PM
Top Gear (suck version) wasn't all that bad, all things considered. With some minor tweaks, a little more humour, and a few shots of Wild Turkey before they go in front of the live audience should get them going in the right direction.

(it's a damned sight better than the Conspiracies of the Bible/Nazi-Porn they normally show on that crappy channel)...

next question:

Does Jezza, Hamster or Slow show up for the race today?

05-28-11, 02:32 PM
wow. kimi sooo did not want to be in the back of the truck doing the driver introductory lap. didn' even bother to wave or look at the stands...

edit: awwwful anthem.

Hey! Me and choppy like Ilsa!

Is that the Collectors DVD with commentary by Max Mosley?

missed out on the beginning of the 300 so didn't get to see kimi's fan friendly attitude during drivers introduction. read that poor kimi's feet didn't fair well getting burned from the floor of his hot tin top car.

Also reading perky jerky has only paid for the 2 races kimi's been in so looking doubtful for a Sonoma...
"The contract states that we're supposed to receive so much, and we have not. We've only received enough for these two races," Busch said. "It's either up to Kimi or up to the financial people that run Kimi's business side of things and decide that they need to find the sponsorship funds in order to carry the experience for him further."

AND Kimi Raikkonen has paid for the races he has run for Kyle Busch Motorsports and does not owe the team money, KBM General Manager Rick Ren said Saturday.(SceneDaily)(5-29-2011)
