More or less wrong than a Cayenne or Panamera? Or that stupid new Ferrari?

The target demographic must be 30 something professionals who make a run to the garden store every weekend, but are too status conscious to be seen in a Ford Ranger. :shakehead

Actually the story says it is just a one-off. Apparently the folks at the BMW factory have too much spare time on their hands. :p

There are three Cayennes on my street. People with more money than taste. :shakehead

So my neighbor said that he was thinking about getting one. I told him it was a VW Toureg for double the price. He said, "not really, the VW is not a Porsche." I should have said, no, it is an Audi Q7 for men without size issues. :saywhat:

Lots of Australian products mentioned in this thread so far (Malloo, Ranger) but this whole ute BMW thing is actually stolen from Australia too:

There are three Cayennes on my street. People with more money than taste. :shakeheadThere is one on my street, and the more money than brains/taste scenario is dead on. The bimbo that drives it has dented it about three times in parking lots and it always goes straight into the body shop for beaucoup $$$$. And to top it off, they don't want to risk driving it in the snow. :D

Last spring, one of our seniors (that's high school senior, mind you) here received one as a pre-graduation present.

I understand he made it to July before totaling it. :shakehead

How about those people with more money than common sense who take their Boxster to a hockey game in Buffalo in March and park it on a semi-sketchy street to avoid paying parking fees for lot parking?

Wow. At my high school, the go-to sweet 16 present was a fully loaded jeep grand cherokee.

The parents in question owned a 6 suite, 31 bathroom, 32,000sq ft house built (and furnished) to look like a medieval English castle. When Dad moved on to wife #3 (or 4? Who can keep track?), he unloaded the house quickly for $11.5million, which was reportedly a big loss.

Sense and taste were not particularly in abundance.

I suppose this is due to my relatively plebeian existence but what does it mean to have a 6 suite house? What is that six - 5000 sqft 6-bathrooms houses grafted in one hideous structure? Sounds like something a polygamist would build.

Medieval was the wrong word (I haven't been out there in 5 years...the memory fades). More like Faux-Tudor. Ish.

Not my style (which I would describe as 'poor guy decor') but its pretty cool for someone into that sort of thing. I'd probably get a King complex if I lived there. Walk around in a velvet rob and a crown and have lots of beautiful female servants...:D I would. Yep.

Business upfront, party out back. :gomer:

Pipe broke because the heat was off? Someone forget to fill the oil tank? I really hope that's not the reality's fault. That would have been a stupid mistake but not as stupid as building that house.

OTOH, if I was saddled with that stupid house, creating a massive flood might be a little less suspicious to the insurance company than torching it. ;)

The first Cayenne I ever saw was a brand new one that was totalled. April 2004 on my way to Vegas, just out of Baker climbing the hill the dip**** had been speeding through a construction zone and hit a truck working there or something. Whole right side of the vehicle smashed in. Didn't look like any injuries. But what an idiot.

Saw a Panamera live for the first time at the car show last weekend. Oh. My. God. That thing looks like someone scraped all the ugly off of an entire fleet of Cayennes and poured it in a pile on the ground. :yuck:
