My first cart race was there. Went every year after that. I think I still have my autographed tee shirt from the 'snow out'.

Thanks Tony :flame:

Don't let them anywhere near Road America. Do you hear that George?

I'm with Patski, and I've never been to Road America. It's the principle of the thing.:thumbup::thumbup:

Sad thing is given how the real estate market has changed the business case for closing the track very well may no longer make any sense. IIRC at least two deals have fallen through since the track closed to develop the property. Now it sits there not generating any revenue and running up tax bills. It will be at least 10 years by my guess before the market justifies building condos or retail on that site.

While an argument could have been made to expand seating and reconfiguring the track a little to improve passing, I think too that the notion that all NASCAR tracks need to seat 100K+ may no longer hold true. A lot of races have empty seats these days. Of course in CARTs prime, the place reliably packed about 55K in every year.

And finally, when ISC closed the track they thought they would have a track 80 minutes east on Staten Island. Not now.

They're going to need a lot of Roundup to kill all those weeds.

Man I still remember going there in the late 90's and seeing my first CART races. And then in like 2003 or 2004 we went to the indycar race there and we sat probably 3 rows up and just across the aisle from Tony George. I kept asking my dad if I could throw my soda can at him. My dad raised me well I guess.

clarification: because he wouldn't let you throw it, Trevor. I think you understand.

Yeah I got that  In retrospective I should have just done it. I mean it's not like we would have missed too much if we got kicked out. :p
