Couldn't sleep the other night and was watching some Pumkin Chunkin thingy on the tely.

The thought came to me that it really was a lot like Indy used to be and many still wish it was.

-- A year spent in the off season to make new, better machines.

-- Machines made by the whits of competitors, many drawn out on the floor of their garage.

-- Technology trying to squeeze that last bit of power out.

-- Biggest event locally of the whole year (well actually second biggest in the state after the Dover Nascar race), but draws national maybe even international attention.

-- Beer

Maybe with the demise of CART/Champcar/IRL/soon to be Indy Car Series/whatever, this is where our attentions should go.

Just a thought. :tony:

Are you using Brazilian as a geographic location or a description of a fashion statement?

Better than anything the ALMS, IRL or CCWS could ever dream of.

I have a six year old. I've seen Road to Punkin Chunkin 2009, Punkin Chunkin 2009, Road to Punkin Chunkin 2010 and Punkin Chunkin 2010 numerous times. He is just shocked that a woman won.:saywhat: Gotta work on that attitude:shakehead

Pumkin Chunkin? :saywhat:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumpkin_chunking

Pumpkin chunking (also called Punkin' Chunkin', Pumpkin Chunkin', and pumpkin chucking) is the action of hurling a pumpkin in a competition by mechanical means over distances greater than those of other competitors.

Only in America. No, wait....

Also, a European Championship is held in Bikschote, Belgium each year, and has been held there each year since 2004.

They have pumpkin rolling competitions here, no catapults. :(

Not the actual winner, she is about twice as old as that young lady. I'd hazard a guess that the winner has been involved with Chunkin longer that that particular lass has been alive.

cameraman, I think you misunderstood. The woman pictured is the "winner". :D
