or, What are those DAGgone drivers whining about?

The only story line I can find for this weekend involves the IRL drivers attempting to grow a spine and stand up to the idiocies of Brian Barnhart.

IndyCar Series drivers wanting their voices heard on various topics are considering launching a Drivers’ Advisory Group.

The drivers of the open-wheel series have had concerns about some of the tracks on this year’s schedule from a safety standpoint and also the ability to pass. The drivers also feel like an official Drivers’ Advisory Group would help keep their ranks apprised of all the rules and recent rules changes.

The chatter of a drivers’ advisory group heated up at Edmonton. Those discussions are expected to continue this weekend at Mid-Ohio.

All your giggles for the weekend might be supplied by this Washington Post article on the 2011 Grand Pizzle of Baltimore.

the starting order make no sense to me

If I use my "IRL to common sense" decoder ring (and the Google), it seems that everyone from 13 on down is ranked based on how they did in their individual initial qualifying groups. The next 12 move onto round 2, where 7-12 are ranked based on how they did there. Then, the fastest 6 move on to shoot for the pole and the top 6 positions.

Clear as mud, right?

I guess Kanaan is this weekend's first victim of Milka, as he's kvetching that she put a block on him during practice yesterday.

Simona challenging for the final 6 right 'til the end! So much better than that other girl it isn't funny. And that other OTHER girl doesn't qualify AGAIN but still gets to race? Beyond pathetic. BTW, she couldn't block ANYbody...that would mean she actually saw somebody coming and made a conscious move. Not at all likely. Penske better pick up Simona before the Chipster does. :)

Did you see her nearly take out Will Power AGAIN. She has now ruined 2 races for him (She bent his suspension at one of the ovals while he was leading!) and this one she totally impeded his charge on Dashley.

I give him credit for his restraint only suggesting to the media she is too slow and should be removed from the track and not that she has now potentially ruined his championship season. Hes not as fast as the rest on Ovals, and the two wins he potentially lost because of her could make the difference.
