For some reason, I've always wondered this. Do teams/events set aside the best tickets/seats for VIPs? Do agents have season tickets for the best seats? How does Pam Anderson walk around in an F1 paddock? Do all these people just have managers who can get them what they want?

Basically yes. Teams reserve those seats for VIPs and keep them open until the last minute and then sell them off to big money people. Some people have standing seats because they go to a lot of games, but otherwise they keep them open for whoever wants to go. Managers call up the teams and set it up.

Advertising is another way prime tickets get distributed. People in agencies and the advertisers themselves always have tickets as "trade" from media companies for placing advertisements for the events themselves. The celebrity might have to pose for a quick picture with some ad guy, but the tickets get done.

The same mechanism works on a smaller scale as well. We have a friend that has been advertising manager for nearly every large mall in the area and she has always had a handful of prime tickets for anything that comes to town.
