So, which site do I crib from to start TFFW for Iowa since crash.net won't be bothering with the IRL anymore? Or do I put my waders on and go into the Indycar swamp later on...

Hellacious thunderstorms moved through the area this afternoon.

Wow, with the track closed to fans on Friday the gomers missed what must have been new and exciting. From the official schedule:

3:00 Canada Logistics Mtg.

3:15-6:15 IndyCar 2 Sweater

Either the IRL has a secret program for two hole steam cabinets or they've taken up knitting for Siamese twins as a charity function.

*All times combined from four lap runs

Will Power gave Penske its seventh straight IndyCar Series pole position of 2010 as he took the top spot in qualifying at Iowa Speedway.

The Australian's four-lap average of 181.337mph came almost as a surprise to the 29-year-old who was fourth out on track and expected to be usurped by one his Penske team-mates or Ganassi rivals as the short oval rubbered-in through qualifying...
Graham Rahal was a conservative 17th, admitting that he had wanted to get the D&R car through qualifying without a dent. Which is more than can be said for Milka Duno's car, the rear of which she comprehensively wrecked in Turn 2 before having even set a time...

Dale Coyne Racing insists her car will be repaired in time for her to take the start on Sunday.

what'd she do this time?

She was dragging ass so far at the back that when Will Power was lapping her on the inside she wasn't paying attention and turned in on him. She bounced off of him stood on the brakes and almost ended up taking out Micro who nearly rearended her.

Its hard to speak seriously about this joke of a league, but she really ended up almost taking out the top 2 in a race and you never know how bad an accident can end up. Power ended up having handling problems a few laps later, I would bet his suspension may have been knocked out a bit by her.

Milka Duno was so much of a moving chicane that the IndyCar Series had no choice but to remove her from the race.

Duno crashed in qualifying, didn't post a speed and started dead last, in 25th. The 25 cars were the most cars ever entered in an IndyCar race at Iowa Speedway, a 7/8th-mile track designed by Rusty Wallace and located just north of Des Moines.

Pole winner Will Power's qualifying speed was just north of 181 mph, so that meant that the field was running roughly 17 second laps, and IndyCar president of racing and competition Brian Barnhart told the field that any driver more than a second off the pace could be parked.

Duno was quickly lapped after the first caution of the day happened on lap 1, but at that point was within that barrier. However, Duno was lapped just nine laps later, meaning that in that span she was more than two seconds off the speeds that the leader was running, something incredibly dangerous for a track that size.
