I was going to do a post on this and never got around to it but since this story also discussed Corvettes being in this years race, although it primarily focuses on the 1960 Corvette entires, it can go here as well. My favorite part of the story, after the race they returned the 1960 Vettes to the dealership where the racing equipment was removed, they were repainted and sold to the public.

It's not being mentioned by anyone at all BUT in the #61 Ford GT, Natacha Gachnang <3 stepped in and just improved the car's best time by more than 3 seconds despite her weak (i.e. recently healed from a break) leg. Go Natacha! ;)

Oh talk of the thomas curse, I talk her up and she finally gets some coverage sitting in the pits with electrical troubles! Bugger!

Yep. Duval was closing Capello down at something like 4 seconds a lap. He then pitted and either on the out lap or the next one had the most spectacular blow up of any of the Peugeots. Lots of short burning flame and plenty of white smoke. The Oreca team owner was devastated.

Well, the AIM Oreca 01 takes "best in class" for petrol NA 28 laps down to the diesels. One AMR car makes it home four laps down to Oreca.

As interesting as the turbo diesels are the extreme advantage they have with the current rules has really messed up LMP1. I will not miss them.

I don't know, they spent far too much airtime showing people instead of the race. Either that or the car video was so disjointed that you weren't really sure what they were showing. I just kept wanting to find the director and smack him.

Agreed on that. The race stories that were unfolding kept me interested, the actual racing footage was you described. I guess my expectations from a French director aren't all that high. :)

It was a fast and furious first few hours though and after that with the Peugots dying one by one it was quite a race. I wonder if we'll ever learn what the failure mode was.

That French director had no idea how to actually broadcast a race. Pits, track action, back to pits, random car shot, time for another montage.
