Just when I had sort of given up on The Foyt Futility Watch...

It doesn't get any better than this!

A.J. Foyt IV and his grandfather part ways

By Steve Ballard

A.J. Foyt IV and his famous grandfather parted ways this morning and the elder Foyt said veteran Jaques Lazier will attempt to qualify the team’s No. 41 car on bump day today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Foyt IV, who took leave of his job with the Indianapolis Colts to try to qualify for his seventh Indianapolis 500, apparently was critical of the car after practice this morning. He was bumped from the field on pole day Saturday.

Lazier, younger brother of 1996 Indy winner Buddy Lazier, has made six Indy starts, most recently in 2007.

And Tony Kanose put his backup car into the wall in the morning hour of practice.

How many old Dallaras does Mikey have left?

Married the daughter of Irsay. Probably the smartest thing he ever did.

So did Jabba fire him or did he quit? This is priceless.

Dunno, but I'd really like to hear that conversation.

The Mikey humiliation has got to be burning hot. Looks like Kim Green was carrying him.

Today is shaping up nicely for Foytility.

Heh. I'd see the wedding and raise it by a baby. I thought I heard one of the mumble twins on today's broadcast mention that AJ V was set to arrive in the fall.

How'd that work out for Ol' AJ?

IV qualified the car at 223.929 and got bumped.
Lazier couldn't even make it into the field and was slower with 223.360.

Hey Sammich, maybe your grandson isn't as stupid as you think he is.

I know who he married. Does he have an actual J-O-B within the organization?

i think his job description as a "special assistant" says it all.

The guy is good only for photocopying the college scouting reports.

Ouch...If my math is correct, 9 Americans made the field. The VISION...they should have Johnny Nash signing "I can see clearly now" for Gomer Pyle.

Without IV in this farce, maybe it will be a little safer for Bruno and the others.

Reading this thread is the only 500 coverage I have seen. Not even sure if I will watch the race. I thought five years ago that my caring had reached bottom. Now I know there is no limit to how much I can not care.
