Imagine yourself cast away on a desert island and choose eight pieces of music to take with you. You must choose the one piece you regard most highly. You can also take one book as well as the automatically given Complete Works of Shakespeare and Bible. Wait. Are we talking about individual cuts from an album or the entire album. The latter is what I've always seen in "Desert Island Disc" lists. Of course "disc" will soon be as anachronistic as "record".

I was confused too...that's why I did a sort of mix and match with complete symphonies but individual tracks from the modern era..

Eight tracks. I was going to say pretend their 45s or 12" singles or something but there'd be a few who don't know what that means ;)
