Mark Cuban to the rescue!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/16/mark-cuban-bcs-plan_n_797533.html

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told ESPNDallas.com on Wednesday that he has a plan to personally fund a playoff system in order to do away with the BCS.

"The more I think about it, the more sense it makes as opposed to buying a baseball team," Cuban said. "You can do something the whole country wants done."

The 52-year-old, who lost to Nolan Ryan in the auction for the Texas Rangers over the summer, called the widely criticized BCS an "inefficient business" and said that "there's obviously a better way of doing it."

Cuban explained that he plans to create either a 12- or 16-team playoff in which the higher seeds get home field advantage.

According to the report, Cuban is reading the book "Death to the BCS" and he said that two athletic directors from BCS conferences were "extremely enthusiastic" about his idea.

Mark Cuban to the rescue!

Well, Cuban wouldn't have been my pick but I did say earlier:

I think that's the best and simplest explanation I've seen.

Still, it is a tragedy of the commons of sorts. The best thing for all involved would be a playoff system. It would be huge. But someone has to take the lead and have the long and broad view top of mind. Giving that over to the NCAA will not happen because they've shown themselves as self serving whores. And that leave...?

This could prove interesting. I smell lots of messy lawsuits.

So 5 OSU players sit the first 5 games next year...

Pryor is the team's star, while Herron is the leading rusher and Posey is the second-leading receiver. Adams is a starter at left tackle and Thomas a top sub on the defensive line.

So who commits to the draft then?

And honestly, if I was a fan, I'd rather start the penalty at the sugar bowl because 5 games next year makes it harder for the Bucks to challenge for a national championship.

I also would like to see them suspended immediately. Rules are rules, even if we don't like them. With Pryor, I expected something like this. The other guys, not so much. Should make the Buckeyes season interesting next year, to say the least. I actually would have liked to see the sugar bowl without them also. They have a incoming stud QB Braxton Miller who will likely need to come up to speed pretty quickly now. Not sour grapes, but how does this square with the recent Cam Newton cf?

Posey, Adams and Herron commit. Pryor questionable...perhaps Shanny likes him in DC. :gomer: Otherwise he's a project to play another position or an FA @ QB. No chance he gets drafted in the first four rounds. I am so disgusted right now I could care less when the suspension starts, I might just skip the Sugar Bowl. The NFL should recognize (and perhaps double) suspensions doled out by the NCAA. So in the case of Pryor, he should be suspended from all NFL activities for 10 games if he chooses to come out. That includes the combine, minicamps, but not preseason.

You have to make the punishment severe enough that nobody in their right mind will want to risk doing the crime.

Unpossible w/o the NFL and NC2A joining forces under one 'CBA' (a CBA to rule them all...shudders). Not sure where he would go/who would take him now. Biggest stain on him now is that his program was in complete disarray -- more chaos than when he arrived. He lost the excuse that he just needed the right personnel. And he's pretty much proven he has no judgment for the defensive side of the ball. Even his offensive "prowess" doesn't translate to being an OC in the NFL.

I agree both teams are dirty, I was cheering for earthquake. But oregon runs a pure run & shoot, only from the spread, the only play missing from ellison's original run & shoot is the slot WR sweep, every play requires multiple reads and every play has a run/pass option. malzahn's O is similar in its complexity, but doesn't have the simplistic playbook Chip Kelly does

i'm not sure what part of discipline, smarts, and strategy is missing from either offense, add excellent conditioning as well. to me, 3 yards and a cloud of dust iso plays are what lacks smarts and strategy.

I was a Bucks fan growing up. Saw the Suns and Celtics play the Bucks during that era. Favorite team of all time was Detroit with Laimbeer and Rodman. There are just as many good players now, the difference is the game is faster. I love the NBA playoffs..........and I must add.........
**** Danny Ainge :p

That was a hate ball extravaganza!

Auburn gambling on 4th and goal and losing? Check.
Chip Kelly gambling on 4th and goal and losing? Check.
Oregon option offense tackled for a safety? Check.
4th Quarter fumble by Heisman trophy winner? Check.
Auburn defense burned for 2-min TD drives, fake extra point, and fake punt? Check.
Referee throwing a pick block for Oregon? Check.
Referee taking away an interception from Oregon? Check.
Auburn fans' faces when Oregon tied the game? Check.
Oregon fans' faces when Auburn won the game? Check.

Oregon loses but Pac-10 gets paid cash money? Check. :D

other thoughts, the death of the triple option and power football was due to Miami's defense in the 80's, speed kills, and Miami were the first ones to stock the D with enough speed to shut down power option games.

in other news, Brady Hoke is the new UM coach, so Longman will have his beloved Michigan return to his preferred brand of football.

I coach Pop Warner with a simple spread offense. My HS kids run read/spread offenses. The NFL offenses almost require simultaneous reads by receivers and QB and everyone else.

I EXPECT it from 10 year olds. Literally. And they do it. Well.

The reads that those numbchucks couldn't make Monday was, well,... not worth admiration.

But they were fast. Damn fast. So fast they didn't need 10 other guys to help them score.

Do I sound that the engine should be in front and run on dirt in roundy rounds not on my lawn?

ya it was a very sloppy game, but the chances of that increases exponentially after the teams take a month off, now it's an extra week and half on top of that w/ the game played on the 10th.

the ducks and auburn executed much better in their regular season games, especially oregon

The Turd is playing Flintstones in the background while Hoke is speaking, and Dan Patrick is playing Chris Farley clips. This is gonna be fun.
