Jose Maria Lopez wants Adrian Valles the Superleague champ to be his partner in '010. So much for the "one experienced driver" guess, IF this happens.

They don't have enough cash to pay Bernie's fines now, so he's hoping they will in a couple months.

Do you need drivers if you don't have a car? Chicken vs. Egg? Will Windsor end up in court for spending the kid's money and never providing a car? Can the drivers go sit on the grid with arms and legs outstretched making vroom vroom noises to avoid the penalty? :gomer:

What an embarassment. I think somehow it wouldn't have been so bad if anyone actually expected them to make it. Watching the slow motion train wreck has been painful.

People lopez press announces that:

Taking into account the amount of information dumped on the participation of Jose Maria Lopez pilot in Formula 1 in the 2010 season is reported in yesterday Jose Maria Lopez (father) with Felipe Mc Gough and visited the headquarters Victor Rosso of USF1 in Charlotte, USA, to make contact with team officials.

At that meeting several issues were touched to know in depth the state of affairs of the new squadron commanding Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson.

After the meeting with a certain idea of the current state of the U.S. team last night set out for London, England.

In London, several meetings were generated, one with executives of the FOM (Formula One Management) who presides over Bernie Ecclestone. The result of these was positive and expected for a similar agenda on Thursday to today.

Lopez (p), Mc Gough and Rosso are scheduled to return to our country next weekend.

Now is official for us.

Today, Feb. 17, I was supposed to fly to Charlotte and tour the shop for a story in an upcoming issue of the magazine. I was going to be the first journalist from a major automotive outlet to do so. Instead, I'm sitting in my Detroit office.

Speed TV has hired a replacement for Windsor, who served for years as the network's F1 track reporter, and that it has no plans to ask the new man to step aside.

Autoweek article (http://www.autoweek.com/article/20100217/FREE/100219906)

To say this was predictable is like calling a dwarf short. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking. Windsor magically transforms himself from a guy that gets well paid to attend every race of the season with full paddock access into a guy that won't be able to show his face in the paddock again. If they did take the Argentine money under false pretenses that could be the least of his problems. :shakehead

Gotta say smart move by Stefan to go ahead and do it right and be ready. Stefan did what USF1 should have done and bought the Toyotas. Just like Super Aguri did with using the old Arrows chassis, better to put a car on the gird and have more time to build one (even though they just ended up using old BAR designs anyway).

Well... if the FIA lets them in it will be a smart move.

For an insider's view...check out composite Ken's posts on the Atlas board. This team is even more of a complete and total joke than anybody realized. It's not Ken Anderson posting but somebody else who works at USF1. I saw some posts last night but unfortunately the US F1 thread at Atlas already seems to have six more pages than when I read that so I can't find the linking of ken's posts. They are there if you wish to read more.

If you go to the thread titles page and click on the thread replies number, it gives you the names of who has posted in the thread and the number of times they have posted in the thread.

Find the name of the poster you want to read and click on the number of posts they have made and the posts that they have made in that thread come up.

This work on OC as well. It's a lot quicker, especially if the poster is rather prolific in a number of threads.

USF1 should have had their car built by Swift. At least they could have shown potential sponsors some pretty cool looking race cars rather then just a couple Haas machines and an empty office with a poster of Jim Clark. To be honest, if they would have gotten out of the whole 'Nascar' country b.s and gone to an established constructor like Campos did they would have most likely been on the grid. Arm body language -

Crossed arms may thus indicate anxiety which is either driven by a lack of trust in the other person or an internal discomfort and sense of vulnerability

Ya think? :gomer:;)

the discussion page of USF1's facebook page kinda reminds me of the good ol days of forum wars when USOW still kinda mattered.... ahhh, good times.

How will the Speed crew call it? Will they go PC or will Hobbs call it properly?

PC. Varsha certainly had the USF1 approved list of excuses:

F1 is hard.
USF1 attempted to design & build their own chassis.
None of the new teams were ready.
Peter Windsor can't talk about it.
Sponsorship is hard to find.
The mean 'ol FIA wouldn't grant a deferral to 2011.

Hobbs and Matchett were less understanding, I thought. As the journalist of the bunch, Varsha has a history of turning the conversation away from controversial subjects where opinions tend to dominate, so I'm not surprised he went easy on his friend and colleague.

Peter Windsor can't talk about it.
No doubt. Probably because Chad Hurley and his lawyers would like an accounting of where his $20 million went not to mention the Argentine lad and his $800,000.[/QUOTE]
