An option for the proposed Indy car of the future is a jaw dropping, eco-friendly creation that's intended to excite the younger generation and automotive world as well as drastically reduce the costs and increase interest.
Say goodbye to the dog-faced Dallara. Images of the wind tunnel model are being held for the official announcement, but if it makes it past the approval stage, look for the first wingless IndyCar in decades.

In what has been a well-kept secret the past several months due to people signing confidentiality agreements, SPEEDtv.com can now reveal a proposal that would drastically change the culture of IndyCar racing.

Owners Michael Andretti, Eric Bachelart, John Barnes, Tony George, Kevin Kalkhoven, Roger Penske, Dennis Reinbold, Kevin Kalkhoven,

Keith Wiggins and Ganassi have endorsed building the protoype and formed a company called Delta Wing LLC.

The cars may be assembled in Indianapolis but the goal is to get everyone involved. And the state of Indiana is exploring the possibility of helping fund the prototype.

"Delta Wing will out-source all the parts and serve as a coordinating entity," continued Bowlby. "We will provide teams with components for the cars, quality assurance and management of development.:laugh:

Ok. But first, where are they going to find enough plutonium to send the few remaining teams/sponsors/tracks/fans two years into the future?

"Spurred by the challenge of innovation, which has been absent from IndyCar for the past several years, longtime designer Ben Bowlby has spent the past 11 months getting creative.

Bowlby's design is a radical departure from the cars that have inhabited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the past 45 years."

Are there two Kevin Kalkhovens? Or did they sell him twice as many shares of ownership as the others?

Party on So it took this guy 11 months to make a sketch of a sled that is already being used?

So it took this guy 11 months to make a sketch of a sled that is already being used?

Apparently he designed a modified body for the horrid crap that hasn't been used for more than a year. This year they returned to the "traditional" silver crown cars and ditched the upside down bathtubs. Ashmore bought the rights to organise races to use the cars or something like that and designed a new body for it.

A turd will always be a turd no matter how much you polish it.

Jeebus. Just like there was already a series for folks who only wanted to watch 'Murricans on ovals, there's already a series for folks who think that Colin Chapman f'ed USAC up.

All the technology 1955 had to offer (but not the freedom to innovate), all the self-serving double-dealing of CART (but not the money), plus all the fans who just can't get enough Gold Crown- what could go wrong? :shakehead

I told ya, I told ya...gotta get the government involved! It'll be more fair and less expensive and it'll pay for itself and it'll create jobs and, and, and YOU know!
