WTH is taking them so long to come up with a new chassis formula. Why are they waiting for 2012/2013. I mean as it is nobody cares, but by 2012 LITERALLY nobody is going to care.

I care about the environment; does that count?...

You just don't know what Indy means. :p

First they need each of the teams to win the Powerball lottery, then they can afford to develop a new chassis.

Seriously, no one has the money to develop or buy a new chassis, so why bother.

Not to be cynical, but a new chassis for a series that is on life support and perhaps won't be around in a few? Sounds vaguely familiar.

I'd love to see them put off the new regs forever. I'd love it even more if they would just listen to their core constituency and dump all the twisties. In my dreams, they would go to a stock-based engine formula and tube frame chassis so the guys in their garage could make a run at the Only Race That Really Matters (TM).

Then, it would be possible for somebody to build a decent open wheel road racing series in this country.

I'm surprised no one's concerned about the safety of running such an old chassis. ;) :gomer:

Old Spec cars......

There is nothing this series has to attract new viewers

The chassis is too well ingrained for something *NEW* to make it exciting in any way.

I just don't get it.

And the idiot isnt even running it anymore.... instead he is replaced by a collective of idiots.

How about this?

The drawings have been described as a cross between a sports car and a motorcycle. The car is sleek and definitely new age, nothing like what has been on the track to date.

Seriously.

Hard as it to imagine, more people paid to see Tron2 than would pay to watch this IRL cluster****.

Other interesting note in the Cavin piece

Team president Tim Cindric said the traditional Marlboro colors could be gone.

"We have looked at changing this over the last few years, especially now that the international races require (the two cars) to look different," he said.

But I thought it was illegal for tobacco to sponsor motorsports and Penske had branded the red chevron as his own. I guess not unless Marlboro pays him to. And that trick isn't fooling the international governments as it is the US government. ;)

its now OK for IRL teams to design and present chassis for competetion, only a cataract-laden vision could ignore the irony, stupidity and karma of such an event.
