If this statement looks familiar it's because one of our forum members brought attention to the superlicense issue here months ago...:gomer:

"I'm still hoping we'll be able to run one American, but that's a tall order because there aren't many Americans out there with superlicences."

No American drivers for USF1? (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/79326)

WTF? Wasn't that the whole point of this so called F1 team? What a wanker Peter Windsor is. WTF is wrong with Summerton, Rahal, RHR, Hildebrand, Marco or Giebler? Rossi, Newgartten, Daly and Jake Rosewinski (sp?) are not ready yet, granted, but the above mentioned guys could do the job.

At least Windsor should offer a seat to Rahal; wait for Rahal to politely turn it down, before saying there won't be any Americans in the F1 team started purposely to have an American in F1. It's not like the team is called Trinidad F1 for crying out loud. There must be some American out there capable of driving an F1 car. Again, wtf? :saywhat::thumdown:

It's a BS argument. The FIA can grant a Super License to a ham sandwich if they want to. The real problem is no American drivers have the cash to fund this project.

Maybe they can label their driver a "potential American" since everyone could potentially earn their citizenship. :gomer:

Maybe my theory of hiring Danica as a way of generating sponsorship wasn't that far fetched. They'll have Vitaly Petrov as one of the drivers which will be ironic as heck! The first Russian F1 driver, drives for USF1.

Right, and I bet they didn't pay a dime to park them there. Ken Anderson and Gene Haas are buddies and between the free promotion and slow machine market it's not hard to guess.

What we should have been seeing is actual car components being made. Unless they're well along in the build process they haven't a ghost of a chance of putting a car on the grid.

Yea,

I saw that piece on speed and thought they looked like they had no chance to put a car on the grid. First, a computer model is a starting point, but a wind tunnel is needed to really test the aero. Second, a milling machine does not make carbon fiber body pieces. And they did not show any carbon fiber. Third, real teams have a hundred people in their factory and USF1 looked like they had about 3.

So while I wish them luck, I am a skeptic they can actually produce.

They did show an autoclave for curing CF parts and an SLA machine for 3D modeling but about the rest I agree, it all looks staged for the benefit potential investors and sponsors that don't know the difference and there is no evidence of the necessary activities going on.

Anderson's buddy Gene Haas does own the Windshear tunnel but that doesn't mean he has access to it. I heard it's booked solid (including F1 teams) because it's the only full scale rolling road tunnel in existence AFAIK.

Funny. The Windshear facility is presented as if the own it or have free access to it. If these guys show up the grid with car and drivers ready to go they will have achieved a level of secrecy the CIA would admire.

Campos already passed a crash test, so I'd say even if they're building the car in a van down by the river, they're still ahead of USF1.

And Manor is an existing British F3 team and if I'm correct they're one of the teams that likes to make their own bits to improve their Dallaras.

I'm a horrible source for this (being the pastiest anglo on the planet), but IIRC Hispanic name construction differs in that there are two surnames. Again, IIUC, Jose would be his given name, Maria would be his father's (traditionally, anyway) surname, and Lopez would be his mother's surname.

Accourse :gomer: he might have another name yet, which would make Maria part of a compound first name (Jose Maria), since middle names don't exist in Hispanic naming conventions. This entire post would thus be rendered pointless, and I would look like an idiot, so I'm lobbying for the other alternative without actually being motivated enough to look up his actual name.

Campos already passed a crash test, so I'd say even if they're building the car in a van down by the river, they're still ahead of USF1.

They now have an official FIA stamp of approval.

"The homologation of the cockpit is a critical point that defines the status and quality of a Formula 1 car. The fact of having our cockpit completely homologised puts us in a privileged position and allows us to keep on developing the car.

"Dallara has done a great job in order to have everything on time and pass all the tests on the first attempt. We still have to pass the homologation of the rear structure which follows the same process and has already passed our previous internal tests."

Love to hear from Sir Windsor how far along that process the USF1 sled is.
