Why is it Thursday and Saturday, traffic concerns?

Man, I'm so confused and I haven't even been drinking. With the CART schedule a day off and seeing Monaco pre-quals on Speed Thursday and nothing this morning, I'm way messed up.

I've read that the Monaco government do not want the streets shut off for three consecutive days.

I have heard that Friday is strictly for media day for F1. They ran F3000 today so the streets were still shut down.

I thought Friday was the religious holiday around which the race is scheduled?
