No, not new movie releases, I'm talking about the start of the filum. Some of them are really memorable, others not so much. Any favorites?

What made me think about this was a song that just came up in my mix from the opening of From Dusk Til Dawn. Great opening scene: "Everybody be cool. You, be cool." Then it all climaxes with them rolling away to the Blasters "Dark Night" and you know you're in for a ride.

Of course the best ever is probably from the original Star Wars with the classic crawl and the Imperial ship looming in from above to start the opening battle.

Also, Jaws whose opening scene has probably put the kibosh on more moonlit ocean swims than anything other than frigid waters.

I`m sure there are much better than this...but it`s the first thing that poped up.

Yeah, Star Wars was a classic. The Bond films had some great opening scenes over the years, kind of Cubby Broccoli's trade mark really.

Das Boot.

Submarine coming straight at you out of the murky water just like a shark...

Das Boot and the Crimson Assured Trust are great picks.

In the original start of Mad Max II, the first scene was the pan out from the shadow inside the fuel injector scoop.

The Magic Christian...
A much under appreciated film. The scene with people scrambling into the pool of raw sewage to grab up the paper money remains a timeless classic, particularly in light of the recent history of those running our financial sector.

The Shining. Watched it last night. One of my favorites and the intro is a film classic. What a performance by Shelley Duvall.

Kubrick

Speaking of Kubrick, one of my favorites is Full Metal Jacket.

But really all his films opened magnificently.
