If you believe that, I've got a bridge for you....

More like: we're so incompetent that we will never be able to put a car together and in one more race you'll have figured that out so we have to replace you.

He said something about "opening up the formula" so that there would be more disparity. He mentioned that this 'spec' has created to many equal cars. He said it rather disdainfully which I was surprised by.

Easy, spec that creates 'side by side' racing = gomerific. Spec racing that creates single file crap = Penske wonderland.

Yes, it did make it obvious. Less obvious was that I was joining in n the joke. Geez, am I always THAT serious? TravelGuy is still a huge PT fan so we read his blog.

Edit: What I can not figure out is why Penske allows the phantom yellows. Seems like he could control just about any part of race control he wanted to.

In this case, I figure he wanted Helio to win to move him up in the points but sometimes it does not benefit him in any direct way and I wonder how he lets the inept ones get away with it. Any thoughts anyone?

Whatever the reason, I think we should run a pool for each race, pick the lap for the NASCAR yellow, and designate some poor soul to promise either to watch the whole race or read Pressdog's notes in detail. The winner gets.....something. You guys can figure that part out. :)

The final word on Texas comes from the TV ratings: a whopping 0.36 on Versus.

Here's the spin at IBJ.com (http://thescore.ibj.com/)

The Indy Racing League television ratings continue to smolder. They’re certainly not burning it up, but where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And in this case, that means there’s some hope for the open-wheel racing series to kindle a bit of interest in TV Land. There’s also some fear within the IRL sales and marketing ranks that a few drops of rain on this season (figuratively, not literally) and the smoke—and any hope of a spark—could vanish....

The Texas race Saturday night on Versus earned a .36 household rating, with 467,000 households nationwide tuning in. That’s higher than Long Beach (388,864 households), the IRL’s previous top rated race aired on its new cable partner. And it’s better than ratings for Indianapolis 500 pole day (385,000) and bump day (349,000), which also aired on Versus.

In the Indianapolis market, Texas earned a 1.6 rating, which means 17,152 TV households tuned in here.

Only 17K :gomer: watching in Indy? Did the pacers make the playoffs or something? :tony: will be disappointed.
