"Champ car" as used back in the day

Occasionally I peruse through my old car magazines. With CART reviving and plastering the term "Champ car" all over the place now, I'm noticing that the term suddenly seems to pop-out a little more in those old magazines. (give this a few seconds for the 3 images to load)

Railbird had a good post over on the Other Racing forum about the evolution of "Champ car" vs "Indy car". Champ car was in common usage before CART started promoting the "IndyCar" moniker.

Lesson learned: never spend money developing a property you don't own.

Yep.. I saw that thread and had originally copied+pasted this text (originally on TF Nostalgia) into it, but I decided to make a separate post of it here in this forum, since not all the CART fans might have seen it.
