I was watching a landing on HDNet and they had a former pilot on and he was talking about landing. He was saying it was a nice day and there were very few clouds, but that one of those clouds (at a low altitude) was right between his line of sight and the runway. The instruments were dead on though and he said he went right through the cloud and everything was aligned perfectly when he emerged.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the same story, but it goes into a lot more detail than I remember.

Landing an unpowered glider that has a glide path like a stone is serious stuff even on a calm sunny day. No 2nd chances. This one was right on the numbers.

Danica could fly it. Let her solo.

everyone in the irl has learned to fly at one time or another.

Cool video. It surprised me how much of a manual flight it is. But since the shuttle is the worlds largest glider I'm assuming you can't automate 'deadstick' flight.
