View Full Version : The Foyt Futility Watch -- St. Petersburg Edition

The nonsense begins again. It's hard to forecast whether 2009 will be funny or just pathetic.

The list of featured drivers for the Futility Watch changes a bit since AJ IV has lost his ride with Vision Racing and Milka Duno's career prospects have plummeted along with the price of a barrel of Venezuelan oil. Our cast of characters:

Special Ed Carpenter with Vision Racing

Brazilian short track hero Vitor Meira with Foyt Racing

Princess Permapout Danica Patrick with Andretti Green Racing

Other drivers to be determined by their relative lack of merit.

As always, cutting and pasting results when I get around to it.

Local news has been having nightly segments this week. Each day they interview a different driver and the question asked to each driver is "Why aren't there more Americans in IndyCars?".

Wonderful. Perhaps I'm just pissed about the DOZENS of times they cover up the winning putt, the overtime goal, TD pass, at-the-wall catch, or play at the plate with 1/3 of the screen (and the center of the action) filled with other crap, or is it a severely speeded-up highlight made to look ridiculous, just so they can say they showed it to you, that irks me? Sure, I agree the news is fine and I get much of it there as well but there is so much other stuff to whine about. So, I watch and whine.

Rahal and Wilson on the front row. That's nice. When's the last time a Coyne car started on row 1? Well, good for Baby Rahole, he's clearly the quickest of the crop of 2nd/3rd gen drippings. Marco sucks worse than dad. Nice to see Special Ed is not DFL, maybe this is his year.

Stan should be on it now. Milka could have outpaced him Sunday.

Mike shows promise. Even though he stuffed it in the wall during qualy's he outqualified the current Futility Watch drivers. Let's see how he does at LB before he putting him on the futility list.
