Success. The business plan is working. Brawn will shed about 270 people & return to 2004 BAR levels. (Hope none of them were working on diffusers.) Autosport.

Do you really need 700 or so people to design, build, develop and race an F1 car? I'm sure that the redundancies have been anticipated since Honda handed the keys to the facility to Brawn.

Let's see how this goes with a now much lesser budget.

Layoffs aren't happy occasions, but based on performance at all levels of the team since 2004 I can make a pretty good case for a lot of those people being redundant from the day they hired in.

What Honda and Toyota have demonstrated is that big budgets and an army of people are not the answer. During the same period of 2004-2008 Renault spent just over half what Toyota and Honda did, had many fewer employees. and got two world championships for Alonso and two constructors championships for their money. Even Ferrari and McLaren spent less than to two Japanese teams.

Since they couldn't poach quality, they were going for the infinite monkey theorem strategy. :)
