The Abu Dhabi project, which includes building a race track and hotels and is reportedly valued at $400 million US, has fallen behind schedule because of the global economic downturn, according to RDS. The inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled to take place Oct. 30, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

F1 chronicler Gabriel Gelinas said Sunday morning that Montreal could be called upon to host an event right before the Brazilian Grand Prix, which takes place from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18. It would not be the first time Montreal has hosted a Grand Prix in the autumn; such an event was held in 1978, Gelinas said.

I wonder what kind of sanctioning fee Bernie and Max will extort for the "honor" of keeping a date that certainly will go to Dubai or the next highest bidder for 2010?

I heard Botswana is putting up 20 sacks of diamonds and 12 cows, so Montreal better dig deep...

Will the evil shrunken prick double the sanctioning fee and demand they light the circuit and hold a night race at their expense?

They didn't bring in a second race yet?

François Dumontier, who has been deeply involved in the organization of the Canadian Grand Prix for most of the past 15 years as operations manager, vice-president of operations and finally general manager, had no comment on Thursday’s report that Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay is only weeks away from announcing the city has been added to the 2010 Formula One schedule.

I hope both GPs come back, because I miss my F1 and just can't go to Eurpoe to see a race for a few years at least.

My Cleveland CART Race and F1 USGP have now been replaced by Grand Am and ALMS/Indycar at Mid-Ohio. Not what I am really into but it's better than no racing at all.

On a positive note, I am very likely going to the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta this year. I hear it's a great track.

I moved up to NH. I would definitely hit Montreal now.

I hope this pans out. I might have to start wearing sock suspenders.

Make this happen.

Canada, too, seems to be back on track, although, say sources, not in Montreal. Could the race be returning to Mont-Tremblant, that picturesque circuit, scene of the 1968/70 Canadian Grands Prix, nestling in the gorgeous Laurentian Mountains approximately an hour's drive north-west of Quebec's capital?
The above is just speculation, but from an infrastructure perspective, is Mont-Tremblant capable of staging an F1 event?

They did host a Champ Car race there after Montreal became unavailable. I suspect with all the Intrawest hotels in the area, accommodating the F1 crowd will not be a problem. Just won't be as much fun as Montreal. :(

I wonder if they could make a temporary road course at the closed Mirabel Airport? Would be a bit closer to Montreal.

The champcar race at Mont Tremblant was excellent. F1 cars would be awesome around there. I wonder if the track would need to be upgraded to meet F1s safety requirements?

I'd really like to see the return of the Canadian GP but a last minute late October event would be pushing it as far as the weather IMO. As far as Mont Tremblant goes even more so. I love the place but in late October the leaves are gone and people are thinking about getting their skis out and waxing them. Little doubt that morning practice would be a frosty affair.

No chance it'll qualify as an economy run but at the end of the day you're in Montreal, so it could be worse.

Well said. I've only been once, but I left wanting to return to Montreal more than I wanted to return to the Canadian GP!

Bernie is, "no longer confident."

Answers to "some" questions, eh? My guess is there is only ONE question he needs answered; "Are you gonna pay up or not?" Nice he has "granted" the good folks in Montreal 10 days or else. HELLuva nice guy. Why is it we refuse to go see The League because of TIGS but seem to ignore TLP? F-1 is just THAT good? I say TAX all F-1 ticket buyers at a 75% rate then give away GA tickets to the masses!:gomer: (and make sure they get the best seats in the grandstands!)

PS-I AM confident...I wouldn't spend $495 for an F-1 race that included a run through my neighborhood!
