From autosport. Looks like next year there will be a 30M Pound (?) cap on the teams. In trade, they then get back to somewhat unlimited development of car, engine, etc. So, they can, for instance, improve the engine and let it rev to 22K or whatever. They also mention movable wings.

So, I personally file this under "Fairly good idea at first blush, but it makes too much sense so it will never happen in F1".

But, if it goes in effect for the 2010 season, how do you count development that is happening NOW for next years car? I am sure there are a bunch of things being developed for the next car, so how is Max going to enforce this?

I bet it gets pushed to 2011 and then fall into the Good Idea Trash Bin.

I can't keep up. How many times can they change the rules?

Freeze, no freeze, freeze this, not that.

And what exactly is the penalty for spending too much and how would they know? Of course it wouldn't include the broiled prawns and vintage wine supplied by a sponsor and such.

Did I mention its also voluntary on a team by team basis?

Interesting idea, but I always wonder about enforcement. Would be good for opening the door to new teams.

"However measures to save money during the race weekend, such as the ban on refuelling and the Saturday parc ferme, will apply to both categories of team.

Do they mean refueling of the top 10 cars after Q3 or during the race? I don't remember the refueling rules during the race changing.

As I understand it if you spend more you can't develop the car. If that's right, then they are truly idiots.

Yes, true idiots. Two "classes" of cars. It's a European thing. Rampant socialism. If you have and spend too much, you WILL be penalized. If you are "good" and don't have as much to live on you get perks that will help you become a winner. Now all that needs to be decided is class definition so we can decide which teams get the most help or punishment. Gosh, this all just sounds SO familiar! ("from" 2010 means 2011.)

This just in. Iditerod race officials have determined Lance Mackey has spent way too much on his dogs and sled, as evidenced by his 3rd consecutive win in the famous Alaskan race. Effective next year teams that spend under a certain amount will be allowed to use lighter sleds and bigger dogs.

THe last two seasons were outstanding. NOTHING needed to be fixed if saving cash was the real objective. Instead these stupid ********s have rewritten everything which will probably cost more than freezing the current formula. Somebody please euthanize those *****eads.............and include Tilke in that too before he builds anymore s***** race tracks.
