Tony Dodgins' take - What must the Honda board be thinking? You spend a fortune achieving nothing, then you get hold of Ross Brawn, ask him to bring his experience to bear on your first rate facilities, let him do it for 15 months at the expense of your '08 plans, then pull the plug just before it all bears fruit. Worse than that, you put down the quickest car on the track and let Mercedes-Benz put their engine in it! What a monumental ****-up!

I doubt it is the engine per se, McLaren isn't doing better.

But Honda leaving also allowed Brawn to fully run the place the way he wanted. He has spent a year rationalizing their development plans and stripping away layers of bureaucracy and redundancy but I'll bet he cut more once he had full reign.

He has spent a year getting rid of incompetent Japanese personnel that were there because of Honda company politics rather than ability.
