Danica 14th, Milka 15th. I guess Ms. Patrick is hanging back to show her friend Milka the way around. Only the first test, but... Of course the Bobby D car, Matos and Wilson were even further down. Oh, and Tiger is back!

When you combine the practice reports, Danica winds up in 15th and Milka in 17th with a .04 difference in fastest lap time.

Could be an interesting season for Danica if the testing results carry over into the season.

Beyond pathetic. When they came on Speed Report I didn't know what the sound was at first, then it sunk in; they sound like muted RC airplanes or something you would hear at the dentists office, at least on TV. The reason I hadn't made the mental connection between the sound and a car on screen is that it doesn't sound anything like any car I've even heard, certainly not a race car. But hey, the "fans" won't know the difference...:D

You can hear them in this video clip at the 1:28 mark.

You know this time of year in 2001 at spring testing Lola debuted the B03.00. That was the last season I could anticipate what the new cars would look/perform like.

Danica Patrick is an extremely talented race car driver, among the best open wheelers in the world today. But she'll never get the recognition for it. Danica makes news when she poses in a swimsuit mag, or dishes for Maxim, or gets in a catfight on pit row with another female driver. Patrick is deserving of our utmost appreciation as an athlete. All she gets is attention for her looks. It can't be an easy plight for a dedicated sportswoman.

My favourite sounds in the world are in no particular order...

-Champcar turbos of the late 1990s with the stratospheric rev limits
-Formula 3 engines
-Caterham Superlight R500
-Zonda F
-Any Formula 1 engine ever
-Renault World Series motors

Yes, and words fail. There's is a bit of an exhale with each gear change going up through the gears. Sometime it goes pop, but mostly it's just the "p" without the "op" on the end. Sigh....

Another sound I love is the big inline 6 sports cars from the early 60's era. The D Jags, Aston Martins, etc. sounded incredible. Going to Waterford Hills to watch them were the high points of the summer.

I agree about the "wretched loudness". After years of turbocharged V8s having one bank open to the atmosphere was intolerably loud to me. Those Toyotas made me go out to my car and get ear plugs out of my toolbox. From a good distance it way tolerable and even wonderful, but at trackside it just hurt.
