Ya, chimps are badass. A couple years ago some guy was attacked by his ape buddy and it ripped off his foot, his nose and his balls among other things. I'll stick with my kitty cat.:)

Chimps are the most cannibalistic animal out there. My dad's friend was a medic in Nam and treated more soldiers from Chimp attacks then he could count. He told me of a story about a time that a Chimp was caught up in a perimeter fence line and a group of soldiers tried to help out the little guy only to have it dine on their fingers, hands, etc. Scary although for comedic value nothing beats a "damn hairy ape" dressed up in human clothes.

A wild animal is wild animal. Doesn't matter if it's been trained to wear clothes, be in the movies, or fly planes.

"That chimp will rip your arm off and beat you to death with it." [/Project X]

The only chimps that live in Vietnam are in the Hanoi Zoo, they are from Africa not Vietnam. There are a few monkeys in Vietnam that could inflict some damage but none of them are anywhere near the size or strength of a chimp.

Pretty pictures here: http://www.primatecenter.org/prim.htm

Maybe the chimps were mercs hired by the Chinese to support the NVA with commado raids south of the DMZ. :p

Also, chimps don't like carpet.

Chimps, monkeys it's all in the same to me in a story shared over some beers. Besides who do you think I'm Jack Hannah or something?

So I guess the lesson is if you're carjacked by a chimp, don't resist

Nash was in critical condition Tuesday after suffering what Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy called "life-changing, if not life-threatening," injuries to her face and hands.

One news story said that the chimp bit off both hands. That would be life altering. :(

The article I read did seem a bit sensationalistic (said it was eating her), so I really hope that it's wrong.

I also hope that she doesn't remember he attack....

A chimp wouldn't be eating her, just tearing her apart.:shakehead

Once upon a time they had some chimps here that were part of an hiv study. Those damn things were Satan's spawn. They would kill you if they had the chance. They are wild animals that are three-fold stronger than humans. Having them around as pets is just plain stupid.

They don't have research chimps here anymore, that whole line of research got exported to China.

IMO, when a pet harms or kills a person, the pet's owner should be criminally liable as if she committed the crime herself.

IMO, when a pet harms or kills a person, the pet's owner should be criminally liable as if she committed the crime herself.

According to my paper that is a possibility.

The victim was so torn up (face removed) that the cops thought she was a man

The owner thought her friend was dead.

Xanax in not prescribed for Chimps and may have actually got him more aggressive (it can in people, especially teenagers)

Why people think it is wise or necessary to keep chimps as roommates (because they are roommates, not pets) is beyond me. It seems selfish and self indulgent.

With all greatest respect to folks who care for mentally disabled children and adults, it is much the same as willfully taking in a disabled child... that is 200 pounds and could easily kill you. It is one thing if it is put on you and another if you choose to because "he is so cute".
