Bro in law is looking for a video capture device to grab video from his camcorder on his laptop and burn it to DVD. Anyone have any 411 on these? I sent the wife to Tiger to get this one:

We have a similar one that I've used a couple of times. Results are... tolerable. Takes a reasonable CPU and a lot of disk space to get decent results.

Perhaps time to think about a new camcorder with digital out?

I've got a Plextor ConvertX (http://www.plextor.com/english/products/convertx2.htm). Does a great job, the conversion is all onboard, does not use your PC's CPU. Have had it for a few years, was surprised to see it still on their website. Just checked eBay, there's several listed.
