There were about 150,000 military personnel serving in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack. There are only about 5,000 of them still living. :(

Just want to say thank you to them, and to any veteran who has served this country. They are real heroes to me.

Wow. The end of the greatest generation. :( I wonder what language we would be speaking if not for them.

We were privileged to have dinner on Saturday night with a WWII vet. He told several times how he was shot down over Borneo on his fifth mission, was hidden by islanders, was picked up by the US, and had to fly 35 more missions to qualify to return home. We listened with rapt attention each time to glean a few more facts and memories. I was keenly aware of the Tom Brokaw's campaign to remember these servicemen. What they did was breathtaking.

My uncle (who is now deceased) was a great man,
I can tell that his job (which was to clean up Normandy beaches) the day after the longest day - effected him for the rest of his life.

But He was Kind and special..

Took me to my First OW race,

BTW - I bought a Real Registered Star for him - that was my gift to my Aunt
