i am looking to get a monopod during the off season, to help with panning shots and tightening the focus during longer exposures. my question is: does anyone use a monopod, and what sort of head do you use?

i seem to recall bogen / monfrotto making solid, stable equipment, so i think i'll be getting something from them, but i'm tripping over the variety of heads available - maybe a two-way pan head?

It depends on how much support you are looking for. I have a flexible rubber connector that I like a lot. You have quite a bit of freedom but it still provides the support.

i like the flexibility aspect... i was considering a pistol grip head also.
