This weekend, as you go to a beach, a race, a park for a picnic, or laze at home, please remember the true meaning of this great holiday.

Think before you take that first bite from the burger or hotdog, and thank the men and women who will be eating MRE's. As you snuggle into your sleeping bag or your bed, think of the men and women who will be sleeping in a foxhole. When you greet your brother, sister, son, daughter, or friend this weekend, the one you haven't seen since Christmas, think of the families of our service men and women who won't be sharing your joy.

Most importantly, say a prayer for all the service men and women who gave thier lives for our freedom.

God Bless America

They shall not grow old
As we that are left grow old

Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn

At the going down of the Sun
And in the morning

We shall remember them.

Very nice thoughts Lizzerd!

This memorial day seems a bit more meaningful than usual. Thank you to our troops past and present.

Even though I am a Canuck, I felt the strength and pride of America as I stood in the stands just prior to the Indy500 when the service men and women were paraded around in the back of trucks. The whole crowd stood up and gave standing ovations and nobody sat down until they had all passed. They called out, "those are the REAL heroes".
I couldn't agree more. I was also happy to see that this was done first.
Afterwards I couldn't help but shed a few tears and sing the Star Spangled Banner pre-race with pride as if it was my own National Anthem.

God Bless America. :)
