Fox Sports radio reporting that Dario Franchitti will leave NASCAR and run the IRL for Ganassi in 2009. No word on Ashley's response to her Unibrow's decision to pilot flying crap again.

Maybe he wants to pole vault one over the fence so he won't be labeled as a quitter.

This is more evidence that the league is headed in the right direction and will overtake Nascar and F1 in popularity in 5 years. :tony:

Check this from the ESPN story:

Dixon has dominated the IndyCar Series this year for Ganassi's open-wheel team, usually outpacing his teammate Wheldon in the process. Wheldon's status within the team was openly questioned in recent weeks and the flamboyant Englishman's options appear to be limited.

Is flamboyant ESPN code for flaming?

You'll have to wait and see where Allmendinger drives next year to find out.

That particular phrase has been removed from the story currently posted on the site. Oreo, you reading here?

Awesome! If a furrin turncoat NASCAR washout coming "back home" doesn't sway the general public... :tony:

And Danny boy to Panther starting at Surfers.

Will the IRL actually go to OZ? TG is appalled by anything west of Gary and east of Richmond and teams are complaining that he isn't ponying up enough cash to make running a non-points race worthwhile...

He could do well in many other series.

Such as? Who else is going to want a 35yo, washed-up, second rate, Scottish open wheel racecar driver.

In 2009, there is going be a surplus of them. :gomer:

Homer: That John is the greatest guy in the world. We've gotta have him and his wife over for drinks sometime.
Marge: Hmm, I don’t think he’s married, Homer.
Homer: Oh, a swinging bachelor, eh? Well, there’s lots of foxy ladies out here.
Marge: Homer, didn’t John seem a little… festive to you?
Homer: Couldn’t agree more, happy as a clam.
Marge: He prefers the company of men.
Homer: Who doesn’t?

I know, that's where I got it. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at that silly show, I had to stop the DVR. I could just imagine the writers sitting around throwing out synonyms until they hit on THAT ONE.

So now we can talk about all the Nascar drivers jumping to open wheel?

Can JPM be far behind? :tony:

The IRL: Gladly accepting your failures and rejects for 13 years

Foytility now includes the grate murican Franck Perrara

Jumping, or being pushed out?

C'mon now. Dario is a 500 hunnert champ just like AJ. He came, he saw, he got runt into the wall and he left.

Can JPM be far behind? :tony:

Not too far fetched. Texaco is leaving Nascar and Chip seems to be having problems landing sponsors. Dario is under contract and if Chip is going to pay him anyway, then put him in a car he has sponsorship for. JPM? Could be.
