"Beaux Barfield, formerly Race Director of Champ Car's Atlantic and Trans Am sanctioned series, has been named to the same post by IMSA Chief Operating Officer Tim Mayer.

Barfield, a native of Houston, TX, served as a Champ Car steward from 2003-2008 during which time he also worked as Race Director of the two ancillary sanctioned series. During the 2008 American Le Mans Series season, he has served as an assistant to Mayer, who had assumed responsibilities from long-time Race Director Marty Kaufman the beginning of this year. "

Sounds good for Atlantics!

Should hear from Acura in just a couple hours, but lots of talk about a hybrid engine.

And speaking of hybrids (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/70131)...

Sportscar manufacturer Zytek plans to enter a petrol-electric hybrid LMP1 car in the American Le Mans Series this season.

Zytek boss Bill Gibson has joined forces with the American Corsa Motorsports team, who run a Ferrari 430 in the ALMS, through Briton Johnny Mowlem, who has raced for both teams recently.

The car features a KERS system, similar in principal to that being introduced to Formula One next season. The Zytek will use lithium-ion batteries, mounted next to the driver in the monocoque for safety. They will be charged by and drive a motor generator unit between the engine and gearbox, and is expected to produce an extra 40bhp.

Even got a writeup (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121995730442980913.html)in the WSJ today. ALMS PR showing some actual signs of life. Now, if only they could sign some Olympic athletes... :gomer:
