how the hell would a magnet affect it?

A magnet was used because it would stick to the throttle pedal (on the back side) and not allow wide open throttle for the guy in the car while it was on the chassis dyno (much like a throttle stop), and could be removed easily and without tools.

We "threaten" something similar to irresponsible Deputies... a 2x2 wood block under the gas pedal.

Sometimes they even get the idea and stop abusing the cars ;).

They're using a steel pedal?

Oh, (slaps forehead) that's right. It goes with the carburetor....

Did'nt Yoda get restricted in the first place because they built a better motor than anyone else? Can't have any excellence in NASCAR even if you're legal, that would mess up the "close racin'". I don't blame Gibbs for the magnets since they were probably gonna get screwed again.

I find this laughable on several different levels.

Dyno testing cars after a race to see if they are making too much power? This has to rank at the top of the giggle chart. Why not just have the manufacturers badge a spec engine if they want them all identical and save everyone involved a fortune...? :gomer:

Fining and suspending crew chiefs but not excluding the cars is a hoot as well. The words "NASCAR enforcement" is an oxymoron. It's a sham with revolving crew chiefs. Exclude a car or a team for a couple races and you'll have everyone's attention.

Believing, and claiming publically, that engines with carburetors will test anywhere close to another identical engine on a chassis dyno is utter fantasy. I seriously doubt they could do repeatable runs with the same car and engine and have the results on a 650hp engine be within 20hp of each other, let alone other cars and other makes on different days. :gomer:

Tinkerbell could be running that operation and it wouldn't be any goofier.

Toyota never cheated (in this way at least haha) in the first place. They built a race engine to specification and they did well enough to blow everyone else out of the water. NASCAR decided they were too good and docked them some power (not to mention the measurement scheme may be suspect).

Gibbs the Younger was trotted out on one of the HeeHaw discussion panels to say he knew nothin' and it was some good ol boys on the team that did it. Really, it was them who done it and it won't happen again. What a tool. :finger:
