IRVING, Texas - After more than three weeks of holding practice like a traveling road show, on Tuesday the Cowboys held the first workout at their Valley Ranch training complex since June mini-camp. According to Wade Phillips, it's good to be home.

"I thought we had probably our best practice of the year so far," the coach said. "I think part of it was being home."
...
Safety Roy Williams sat out the team portion of Tuesday's practice, though he went through position-specific drills earlier in the workout. He was replaced on the starting defense by third-year safety Pat Watkins.

no evil roy + best practice of year == hmmmm

No, just off the team. Poor choice of words.

I hope it was the right move. Chris Perry is going to have to convince me that he can be a three down back, but Rudi can't seem to stay on the field these days and he doesn't seem terribly bothered by that fact. They might have had more patience with his injuries and 2.9 yard average last season if he were a credible threat for the long run, but the Bengals haven't had a 50 yard run in 3 years.

For Willie Anderson, alas, it's time. They gave him a giant contract extension not long ago and it was probably wishful thinking that he would be able to play it out. On a good day he's still better than a lot of tackles in the game, but unfortunately his laundry list of nagging injuries mean that you can't count on it on any given day.

Not without reason it would seem.

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot early Tuesday morning while outside an apartment complex.

The Florida Times-Union reported Tuesday that Collier, 26, and his former Jaguars teammate Kenneth Pettway had been out at clubs on Monday night into Tuesday morning, and were following two women they had met back to an apartment complex to continue their evening together.

According to the Times-Union, while the men waited in a Cadillac Escalade for the women to return from the apartment, someone walked up and fired several times at Collier, who was driving.

He is the third NFL player shot in the last two years:shakehead
