IRL (India Racing League) (http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/News_By_Industry/Media__Entertainment_/Now_comes_the_Indian_Racing_League/articleshow/3185995.cms)

Says A1 Team India CEO Andaleeb Sehgal: “We’re looking to buy out an existing format which has not done well in countries such as United States and Europe. Hence, we can buy out their set of cars and supporting deals such as with engine manufactures and place it in India. We have already identified four cities where we can start this league.”

Just out of curiosity, if the IRL bought all of CCs IP, does that also mean they bought the DP01 design. Who owned it, CC or Panoz?

I would think that Panoz would retain the design rights while the Champ Car set of chassis regulations to which it was built would be the IP.

BTW, the scary thing is that the article suggests that it is the Atlantics championship that is up for sale and not the shredded guts of Champ Car. The article suggests they want a turn key series -- like the deal that sent Shelby's Can Am product to South Africa. Of course, since Atlantics is not exactly a turn key operation with all the cars and equipment included that makes little sense.

English to zee Fractured English to zee Hindi to zee English translation problems?

That, combined with this article (http://www.globeauto.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080703.whMotorsport0703/GAStory/specialGlobeAuto/?page=rss&id=RTGAM.20080703.whMotorsport0703), doesn't make me terribly optimistic over Atlantic's future. I didn't cry too much when CC ceased to be, but Atlantic would be a harder pill to swallow.

The Delhi GP should be a hoot. Can the DP-01 be fitted with a cow-catcher? :gomer:

...and what about all the monkeys on the track? If a driver kills a sacred monkey, does he get a drive through penalty?

I'd rather believe that Lord Hanuman would lead the monkey army to defeat the evil King Tony of Indiana and rescue the Princess Goodmotorsports. ;)
