Canadian team owner and driver Marty Roth crashed coming out of turn two this morning during IndyCar Series practice for Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250.
Officials said Roth was not injured in the accident.

Dan Wheldon and Bruno Junqeira also were involved in a wreck on the track. The cars made contact and, though the incident did not initially appear serious, both cars had to be removed from the track.

Bruno Junqueira’s status for Sunday’s Iowa Corn Indy 250 is in serious doubt after he lost control of his No. 18 machine and hit the wall during the latter stages of today’s first practice session at Iowa Speedway.

Dan Wheldon was unable to fully escape as he went up with Junqueira and then down the race track with visible damage to the right-front suspension of his car. Another machine narrowly avoided hitting Wheldon on the Brit’s descent to the apron.

Duno’s No. 23 car spun in Turn 2 and made moderate contact with the SAFER Barrier. Duno’s team was forced to pull out its backup car due to the incident. Milka Duno was uninjured in the accident.

the early accidents have left the field somewhat depleted, with both Junqueira (Dale Coyne Racing) and Marty Roth (Roth Racing) ruled out for the weekend due to the damage sustained in their earlier crashes, which their teams believe were caused by mechanical problems rather than driver errors.

With Pacific Coast Motorsport having withdrawn Mario Dominguez from the event earlier in the week, that leaves a 24-car field to participate in this afternoon's qualifying session.

 Sounds like it's going well, too bad it's not a night race, I miss the multicar fireballs with all the tracers :(

Whoever wrote that article may want to read it over. When he started writing it, Bruno wasn't out and by the end he was.

Glad to see the CC teams have the "A" parts and plenty of spares.

This (http://www.majortaylorvelo.com/velodrome.html) is a nice track in the middle of nowhere also, and open wheel cars don't belong on it either

Don't let the TF Krew see it- I'm sure some of 'em are clamoring for a return to wooden-board high banks.

Tony Kanaan, who led 71 laps earlier in the race, smacked the wall on lap 212,

— Mario Moraes hit the wall on turn 2 in lap 193

— Milka Duno left during lap 27 because of handling issues with her car

— Ed Carpenter hit a wall in lap 39 to end his day

Iowa Corn Indy 250: celebrities are scarce

Last year, Ashley Judd. This year, Patty Judge.

Last year, rock-n-roll king Gene Simmons of KISS. This year, Iowa congressman Steve King.

Judge, Lt. Gov. of Iowa, and King — the Iowa version, not the guitar-carrying version — strolled around the infield areas on Sunday.

Gone, however, was much of the out-of-state star power of Judd, the actress-wife of former IRL driver Dario Franchitti. Gone, too, was the machismo-on-overdrive presence of Simmons.

I cant amagion why the IRl isn't enough to draw celebs to Iowa.:shakehead
