Didn't look all that different. It wasn't 1080i or 720p. It looked more like a 16x9 format SD digital feed.

I think it looked better than usual, but it wasn't all that great. It seemed like HD instead of the SD 16:9 they've been showing. They do a lot of camera switching and on-boards.

Looked like widescreen SD to me.

The engine note seemed louder than usual
No pit walk before race

It is a shorter format.
No half hour pre-race like on SPEED.
Also they didn't show the 2nd & 3rd place interviews:thumdown:

I mean how often are we going to hear from Heidfeld & Coulthard?

I'm fine with it.

1) I am lazy and do not get up before 9 on Sundays unless its for autocross
2) I dont have SPEED HD yet (supposedly on the way for U-verse), so its better to watch it tape-delayed or DVRed in widescreen, than live or DVRed in HD 4:3.

I usually record it and watch it if it starts real early. But I watch it well before noon. I just have to avoid OC, ESPN.com, etc. There's just something about everyone else knowing the result before me when it comes to sports that compels me to watch them live when I can. :)

(It even bugs me when watching NFL Sunday Ticket and my brother calls. His feed is like 5-7s ahead of mine (satellite delay and DVR delay) and he's calling out things before I see them.)

I really prefer the commentary when the races aired on Speed rather than the more general consumption commentary when they're on the "mother ship".

Yeah, Steve Matchett was really dumbing it down on Sunday. There were a couple of comments that verged on the "tires are round & black" level.

Yeah, it's a shame. Probably Coulthard's last podium making it one of the few times I actually cared what he had to say.

Dude, they were playing to the viewers that tuned in expecting a cab race on Fox. :irked: :gomer:

I have to admit it felt much less dumbed down than last year. I could *almost* not notice the difference. That said I always watch races in the late afternoon or night DVRed anyway so tape delay is no big deal. The only race I ever really wake up early to see is Monaco.
