The biggest WTF is Tampa. They've signed roughly 18 forwards, no defense and are thinking about trading a goalie.

Apparently the new slogan in TB is "Got D?". The Hockey News has some interesting analysis about the Bolts' recent moves.

Poor Campbell. He's going to play in another [Expletive Deleted] Stupid Ice Bowl. (Search YouTube for that classic moment.)

Chicago is a good place for Ice Bowl II. The team is gaining momentum on and off the ice, and has a good chance of actual winter weather on game day. The only downside is that the league could be pushing too much of a good thing by having another Ice Bowl one year after the original. Hopefully, they don't have them every year, or they'll lose their luster.

There's nothing poor about Campbell. ;) :saywhat:

Minniesoda would be the ideal place to have another Ice Bowl, but it'll be a few years before the new open air stadiums are ready.

Chitown and Detroit are about the same for winter weather.

It's almost Christmas Day I in Canadia! Let the trading begin! Anyone want Foote for a 1st and 4th. CBJs still hanging onto 6th in the West, but only 4 points b/w 6th and 12th. The boyz need some help on O. We can't keep expecting Mason to save the bacon every game (although he has tied Bryden's rookie record of 8 shutouts). Word is perhaps 'scrambled eggs' Connolly from Boofaloo.

As much as I'm rooting for the CBJs to make the playoffs, I don't want them to have Connolly. The Sabres are better with him in the lineup than without, and even though Vanek is back, they're still not firing on all cylinders (as yesterday's 5 hour practice day illustrated).

Anyone want a speedy wacky Russian with a wonky groin? Will take 10 pound catfish or bag of pucks for Afinogenov.

I'm leaning towards Vermette than Connolly due to Connolly's injuries...he's a Lindross in the making. :( Tomorrow is gonna be a load of fun for once....I think. Some of the wishful thinkers around here keep mentioning Jordan Staal, but I don't see that happening.

We'll send ya Christian Backman for Afinogenov...basically the same as a 10-pound catfish. :irked: The Sabres are in a tough spot being so close to the bar, but Miller is out injured. I read that Philly is looking to unload Marty B, so there you go. ;)

When Timmy's on, he's on. He's averaging a point per game since he's back. He wants to stay in the B-lo, but he would have to take a huge discount to do so. And the Sabres would have to stock up on spit, duct tape and bubble gum to keep him held together.

I just read that Marty rumor and damn near fell off my chair. Marty still keeps a home here, so it's not like it would be too much upheaval for him to be traded. But he does have that pesky no trade clause (as does his overpaid hobbit of a teammate) that would need to be waived.

:) Mase is the real deal. Pazzy just couldn't stay healthy. Sad to see him go, but we need more scoring. Heck, even Dan LaCosta was called up from the 'cuse in January and won 2 games while Mase was out with mono. Good to see the CBJ strike a deal early.

The Red Wings game was painful. There was a shot at the end of the game of Miller on the bench looking like someone just murdered Sabretooth and Sparty the MSU Spartan right in front of him. That about did me in.

I'm really leaning towards the Canucks and CBJs as my WC bandwagon teams, and the NJD and Bruins as my EC ones.

Opponents could be either the Rangers, Caps, Habs or Flyers. Would have loved to have seen a Buffalo/Boston game up for consideration as Buffalo/Boston is a classic rivalry, but I guess the league has to share the Winter Classic love.

You would think Versus would have switched over and shown the final minutes of the NJD game. But since it didn't feature a "star," they didn't.

On a small tangent, many of the hockey blogs I read have not been amused by the over saturation of Danica within the hockey telecasts. Both Versus and NBC are Danica heavy on the ads, and Versus is using her to pimp their 500 coverage. As one fellow blogger put it, the only difference between the two networks is that on Versus, she's a b*tch and on NBC she's a [tramp]. Heh.

Looking at the next round, Ducks/Red Wings could be a war. Hawks/Nucks will bring the pretty. B's and 'Canes could be entertaining, and Pens/Caps will cause Pierre McGuire's head to explode. :)

The NHL needs to get that team out of there. Period. This will likely end up in court and Basille will likely fork over a premium for the team to line the owners' pockets, but puhleeze...compensate the Laffs? For what?
