Jean-Marie Balestre would be rolling in his grave, if they have put him in it yet.

The NOTW is the biggest-circulating Sunday paper in the UK, it's owned by Rupert Murdoch.

there's no way this is for real...

right? At first I was certain it was an early April Fools day hoax. Too perfect and all. If it is, none of the news outlets round the world aren't in on the joke. Also, Max isn't denying it, he's claiming breach of privacy. :saywhat: Says he paid £2,500 for the party.

One always hopes for some poetic justice, but this rises to level of Shakesperean. First Balestre and now Max in the same week. If TG steps on the banana peel do we hit the trifecta....?

If true this won't go down well at all. Not a lot of people amused by concentration camp fantasies.

The Oxford-educated former barrister, who is president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), reenacted a concentration camp scene in which he played the role of both guard and inmate.
Max considers breach of privacy suit (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article3649197.ece)

Slightly less shocking is the link on that page says that Alonso has joined the Ministry Of Silly Walks....

Hard to tell but the mirror looks as if it might be angled towards the camera, so maybe its the person who shot the video/photo. Looks to be cell phone quality.

"This is a matter between Mr. Mosley and the paper in question," an International Automobile Federation (FIA) spokesman said.

"We understand that Mr. Mosley's lawyers are now in contact with that newspaper and the FIA has no comment."

Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone told at least one London newspaper that Mosley's job was not in jeopardy.

"I find it difficult to believe. It's his business but it sounds to me like a set-up. Has he in any way damaged F1? No," he told the Daily Mail.

EDIT: To add to Insomniac's quotes:

Stephen Smith, director of the Holocaust Centre, said: "As Mr. Mosley has condemned the racism in motorsport he should live up to the standards he sets. This is an insult to millions of victims, survivors and their families. He should apologize. He should resign from the sport."

Mosley is the son of the late Oswald Mosley, founder of the pre-war British Union of Fascists. Mosley is married with two sons. He has been president of the FIA since 1993.

Agreed, this is not a simple matter of political correctness, this means social untouchable status for Max. Mein Fuhrer himself attended Mosley's parents wedding and Sir Oswald was leader of the Fascist Party in the UK, something Not the kind of thing people forget and something Max has had to live down all his life. If it was anything else maybe he gets a pass but concentration camp slap and tickle from him simply won't wash.

It does seem bit too perfect, almost liked it was scripted, staged and conveniently filmed. If it was a trap it was an exceedingly effective one as they picked the one thing that people simply couldn't give him a pass on. You need a powerful enemy for this level of commitment and execution. All that said, Max had to show up and play, so regardless of the circumstances he is hoisted on his own petard.

I've seen poetic justice before, but this rises to the level of Shakespearean justice.

OC, you may well be right, but Europeans are famously tolerant of these personal "indulgences".

Even the N@zi slant may get a pass. Remember half of Europe fought on that side of the war and as Max's dad exemplifies, there were plenty of sympathizers on both sides.

Bernie was quick to say it was Max's business and would not endanger his job. I coming to think Max will stick out his chin and chest and throw well funded lawyers at the NOTW to shut any more talk of this down quickly. I noticed that by morning the video was gone from the internet including the NOTW website

Take a second look at that McLaren statement. It's a thing of freaking beauty.

Language students should do doctoral studies on this.

"Given the doubt that has now been thrown on the quality of judgement displayed by those comprising the sport's governing body it is our intention to appeal the verdict given against McLaren last year. We have a new team of lawyers and the concentration of our camp is focused on getting right down to the bare essentials, exposing the soft underbelly of what we see as shabby justice handed out to us and thrashing this matter out fully one more time. We don't intend to be the sole whipping boy for the sport when other teams have engaged in behaviour that we believe merited penalties but escaped without sanction. We intend to go at this hell for leather even if it means the parties come out of it somewhat bruised and beaten."

Bravo!!! Brav-o, sir!!!

wouldn't cyanide be more appropriate ? :D

Even the person that coined the term "you just can't make this stuff up" probably couldn't even imagine this turn of event. The only thing that could make it better would be if we get to know who set him up for it. :D

Ron Dennis outlines his vision for the sport (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/66280)

It's almost like Ron had these statements all prepped and ready to go... cough. :D Ron is jumping on this with all the energy of a political campaign. Standing ovations, praise from Nick Fry and Christian Horner, etc.

We're seeing a modern version of 'Julius Caesar' played out. It's looking more and more like the party with $100 million reasons to depose Max did exactly that with the full support of the Senate..., oops, I mean the teams.

Can anyone send me a link to where that statement originated from, I can't find it anywhere. Funny either way, but I'm skeptical that its real.
