Well, It was nice while it lasted. Seabass will be replaced next year by a Russian/Indian/Qutarian/Martian, depending on who buys the team.

Whats the over/under on Stddard buying the team again?

Could you imagine! Over the hill tracy finally makes it to F1 after 'mergification' of American open wheel.

What is the philosophy?

Why is it OK to have customer engines and not customer chassis?

Not quite getting it. The engine isn't any less important to the overall performance of the car and arguably technologically more complicated.

Given the engine freeze I'm thinking Max wants to ensure the illusion of diversity my having chassis that look different even if it came to be that every team migrated to a single best engine supplier

Man, who knows what drives this stuff. I long ago quit trying to figure out what Max/Bernie/Ferreri are trying to acomplish.

One would think that having customer chassis and engines would be good for some teams as it brings in $$ for the doner, and costs less to the buyer.

I thought F1 was going to go to some sort of common parts package (breaks, suspension, etc). But again, they make these broad cost cutting annoucemens (correction -MAX makes these broad cost cutting announcements, lol) saying the teams are demanding 'this' to help drive down costs. But 'this' either never materializes or it is so watered down it makes no difference.

F1 would be a perfect fit for Gerry/Jerry. They are both unpredictiable and say one thing and seem to do another. Marrige made in racing heaven :-)

Stoddardt said he wouldn't go back to F1 as long as Mosely's still involved.

Great... now we are gonna have another midland/spyker/force inda backmarker team that just when it seems like MAYBE they will get it right they change hands and **** it all up again...

Maybe Prodrive will buy it.

Maybe Prodrive will buy it.

It is the only way they will ever get into F1.

Max and his dithering scores again. First they are going to get the cost down by allowing customer cars, then they aren't. Next week it'll be something else. If anyone ever kept track of the true cost of the FIA regulation changes it would probably be enough to bail out Bear Steans...:gomer:

In fact, most of the major teams from the Champ Car World Series won't be making the jump. As we reported earlier, Forsythe can't afford the reinvestment. Neither can Walker Racing. Newman Haas Lanigan Racing will, however, while former Champ Car co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven will give it a shot, but, like Stoddart, is also looking for a way into Formula One. With the former Minardi F1 team, now known as Toro Rosso, up for sale, and Super Aguri looking not long for this world, they may have a chance.

F1 would be a great place for Kalkhoven. A guy who couldn't nail down a real sponsor (or spend much of his own money) on a 2 car, $10 mil/year CCWS team wants to get into F1.

Hit the start button and get the Orville Redenbacher going... this should be better than the final espisode of The Sopranos.
